2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

We're stuck. I think Idzik is playing it too safe. Face it, we're not going that far this year. Why waste money? I think it's smart, he is probably also thinking about the QB situation and leaving flexibility for that down the line.

This is the only thing I can think of. Rex will be the causality unfortunately unless the Jets super overachieve, I'm very realistic about this season.

Just happy football is back
Yup. Geno shows flashes, but let's face it, he's not a franchise QB you can see carrying us for the next 10+ years. You're fooling yourself if you think it's the case. Sadly coaches success and QB's are directly tied. Rex is 0/1. And the offense still needs to catch up to the D.

We seem to be the only ones not seeing"it" with Geno. I'm hearing people on the sports talk stations talkin like we got Randall Cunningham and I'm sitting there with that what's that smell face ....

Are we sitting on gold here ??

I'm thinking Geno doesn't have to break his back for this offense in order to be successful. He just needs to play smart.

FWIW, he has a fairly good arm, and needs to be make use of his legs more.

His arm isn't the problem. However, accuracy and decision making are key. And there is that pesky WR issue. Other than that, that's it.

He's very talented. There were throws he made last year as a rookie that showed he has big time ability. The questions is, when are we going to get a weapon? Decker and Kerley are good but we need that solid number 1 WR. We passed on Jackson and I think that could of really given Geno what he needed. At the end of the day, time will tell but if he steps up this year like I know

When are we gunna cut Stephen hill waste of space I'm gunna be pissed if we keep him he's straight yeahs and hasn't improved in 3seaons dudes 6'4 and can't wait to save his life

Yeah I don't see it either.

Anyone going to Week 1? I'll be there, sitting in section 106

I'm going too, not sure what section but I know it's in the 300s.

Never had a true tailgate before, plan on doing it big this time around.

Hill has benefited from lack of competition at the position. Look even at the current roster, after Deck, who is really pushing to remove Hill's roster spot? Kerley is a somewhat reliable #3, but there's no clear #2 option.

Didn't watch the game but the loss doesn't mean much considering majority of our starters were rested. Bring on Oakland :hat

It looks like ima be in the building with Elijah Dukes next week.

What time you getting up there? I'm taking the NJ Transit but id be down to chip in on beer or something if you don't mind some fellow niketalkers joining the tailgate.

Not even looking ahead on the schedule at this point, week by week. Oakland at home with a rookie Carr at QB should be our easiest win of the season.

I'm actually going to be out in Oakland for the game next week, kind of shook to go to a bar and wear Jets gear knowing Raiders fans 8o :lol

Nah, he sucks, he'll be out of the league for good after this year.

I was really positive about this year before the summer but with a shaky QB, shaky secondary and shaky WR's and how lucky we were in close game last year, I don't know...I can see 6-10 happening if things go wrong.

Hill's agent is really trying to blame Hill being compete trash on the Jets. Like it's their fault he can't catch, run routes or play big.

"Alan Herman claimed Hill, whom the Jets had been trying to trade for weeks, was victimized by circumstances and lack of opportunity"

Lack of opportunity? The fact that he made it this far is more than an opportunity :lol

Report: Jets cut AWOL cornerback Patterson
David P. Woods @davidpwoods 3:36 PM

The New York Jets won't have to deal with the headache of Dimitri Patterson anymore. The team made the cornerback one of their final cuts ahead of the NFL's 53-man roster deadline Saturday, per Pro Football Talk.

Patterson chose not to show up for the Jets' third preseason game and was eventually suspended by the team for the preseason finale. It's still unclear why he didn't show up to work, but reports suggest he was unhappy with his place on the depth chart.

Patterson's release leaves the Jets precariously thin at cornerback. The former Miami Dolphin, who signed a one-year deal with the Jets this spring, was expected to start before his relationship with the team turned sour.

The Jets have released their list of 21 players that were cut (as well as their addition to the PUP) to make the 53 man roster before the 4PM ET deadline.

Released

Tajh Boyd (QB/6-1/222/Clemson/Hampton, VA)
Will Campbell (G/6-4/311/Michigan/Detroit, MI)
Troy Davis (LB/6-2/251/Central Florida/Queens, NY)
Brandon Dixon (CB/5-11/203/NW Missouri State/Pompano Beach, FL)
A.J. Edds (LB/6-4/256/Iowa/Marion, IN)
Tevita Finau (DT/6-5/288/Utah/Lahaina, HI)
Clyde Gates (WR/6-0/197/Abilene Christian/Vernon, TX)
Alex Green (RB/6-2/220/Hawaii/Portland, OR)
Stephen Hill (WR/6-4/215/Georgia Tech/Lithonia, GA)
Kerry Hyder (DL/6-2/280/Texas Tech/Austin, TX)
Garrett McIntyre (LB/6-3/255/Fresno State/South Lake Tahoe, CA)
Rontez Miles (S/6-0/203/California (PA)/Braddock, PA)
Chris Pantale (TE/6-5/254/Boston College/Wayne, NJ)
Johnny Patrick (CB/5-11/190/Louisville/Deland, FL)
Dimitri Patterson (CB/6-0/200/Tuskegee/Miami, FL)
Brent Qvale (T/6-7/315/Nebraska/Williston, ND)
Jeremy Reeves (CB/5-7/176/Iowa State/Allen, TX)
Daryl Richardson (RB/5-10/196/Abilene Christian/Jacksonville, FL)
Caleb Schlauderaff (G/6-4/302/Utah/Shelton, WA)
Matt Simms (QB/6-3/210/Tennessee/Franklin Lakes, NJ)
Zach Thompson (DL/6-5/265/Wake Forest/Ashburn, VA)

Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP)

Antwan Barnes (LB/6-1/251/Florida International/Miami, FL)

On this list there are only two players who were drafted in 2014 that were cut by the Jets. CB Brandon Dixon who had a tough time adjusting under the lights of the preseason and Tajh Boyd needs more refinement before he could be a player that the Jets could justify adding to their 53 man roster.

Of the group, there’s a number of good candidates for the practice squad: Tajh Boyd, Troy Davis, Brandon Dixon, Tevita Finau, Rontez Miles, Chris Pantale, Johnny Patrick (not sure of eligibility) Jeremy Reeves, Darryl Richardson and Matt Simms. Of that group, I would not be surprised if about six or seven of that group could see time on the active roster for the Jets this season.

There’s only a few players that I don’t imagine would come back to the Jets at any point. Dimitri Patterson and Stephen Hill would be on that list. Will Campbell and Garrett McIntyre might have been as useful to the Jets as he could have been, but with a bunch of young linebackers and receivers who were just drafted, I don’t know that the team will have use for them in the future.

Yeah, ED contacted me thru PM earlier this week. Truthfully not sure on full details of time/parking where just yet, but when I know more (middle of this coming week), I'll PM ya both and we'll figure things out!
