Washington is in a tough spot

Kirk's make or break game was week 17 to me and it ended badly

seems he is on a track to be Tony Romo lite

Spot isn't tuff at all. Washington with a average defense would have made the playoffs last year. Everyone wants to talk about the last game we played. As if before that our defense didn't let 3 games slip away where we held the lead with 2 minutes or less left.

Cowboys week 2, Detroit and Cincinnati.

One thing with all this too is dude is trying to get paid, trading a high pick and then immediately having to sign him to a big contract. not sure which teams want to do that, his own team seems to be hesitant

I am not saying they shouldn't resign him but when you sign a QB to a big deal you just better make sure it's the right move, it's a lot different than whiffing on a QB in the draft now that there is a rookie scale

One benefit to the 49ers signing Kirk -- we'll never have to hear TURNT again.

Might be worth setting the franchise back even farther.

Collector loves his TURNT :lol

It's been over 20 years since we've had a average QB. We now have one who although isn't elite is above average and has played 33 straight games including playoffs.

Now the franchise that has spent money like fools for years doesn't want to pay him. It legit pisses me off. You can't win without a QB. Look at Denver this year.

wait is Cousins being shopped or is this all NT hypothetical

been a hectic morning at work so I haven't caught up

Kirk is a FA right?

Ive been thinking its the news that Niners will try to hire Shannahan who might want Kirk. And Kirk can just go wherever he wants. I think. im confused with the draft pick talks.

^ they can still franchise him and work out some sorta deal to move him though

the skins are in a conundrum.. as soon as you pay the QB big money, you gotta start gutting elsewhere

and you really gotta hit on and hoard draft picks

I've meant to ask you if you listen to 106.7 those guys in the morning or evening? Some of the scenarios they come up with or say or wild at times

If we draft a QB and he turns out to be great then we gotta pay him eventually too. All 32 teams face this scenario moving forward because the price of QBs has gone up. I don't see the issue with paying him. Our defense is already trash. What will signing Kirk hurt?

Wait I thought you could only franchise a player once.
I think you can negotiate it before you sign, I think.. but it keeps escalating.. so obviously at some point you gotta figure out if you wanna bite the bullet for cap purposes

Washington would be silly to not re-sign Kirk

Notice the majority of the people in this thread saying otherwise are fans of rival NFC East teams. They obviously have an agenda here :lol

Washington letting Kirk go would just prove the theory that the franchise hates success

No you can only franchise one player per year I believe. Big difference.

Yeah I thought it was that along with one per player and then after that you have to figure out if you want to resign him or let him go.

i didnt know you could keep tagging a guy with an with an escalating cost like Collector and IATT said.

Got it now, thanks guys.

I couldn't care less if they sign him or don't sign him

THIS

We have a QB who knows the system. Has played great in it. Has improved from 2015-16. What the hell else does Washington want at QB. Top 10 guys are extremely hard to find. Kirk played top 15 ball last year and top 10 ball this season.

if you're including me within this group.. I never actual said what Washington should or shouldn't do

personally I hope they do give him a huge contract, because that limits the money that can be spent elsewhere.. and I believe he is a limited QB
