The Braves are releasing Dan Uggla. I know he fell off big time but didn't really expect Atlanta to just eat the rest of his contract. 

Was it ever released why Uggla was suspended for a game right before the all star break?

Uggla was late to practice that's why he was suspended. He didn't even get playing time for the past 2+ months. When he got a few at bats as a pinch hitter he always struck out.

His elbow is held together by glue and duct tape. It's not blown yet, but Houston knows it will, soon. They want a discounted contract.

He won't agree. So, he can go to college, or play independent ball and re-enter next year, etc.

And they get the #2 next year, automatically.

Basically Aiken has the Smallest UCL they have seen on an MRI. The lack of the normal UCL let's him throw 97 because of the last of friction. But if it pops, and they are saying it's got a good chance, TJ might not really fix it and the added ligament could slow down his fastball a good amount. Think RA Dickey fastball. Astros offered 5 million, down from 6.5. Agent played hardball back. No deal.
