Eh. He can only do so much, it's a team game. Being the face of the game has to do with being the best (which he is), playing the game the "right way" (which he does), and having star power. Under that criteria, for me, he's the face. He also drinks BodyArmor

Trout hasnt even played a playoff game yet. He could be another A-Rod for all we know. Just saying, let's ease up on the anointing for now...

No one ever remembers that Jeter hit like .190 in the 01 series.

I always wondered why A Rod was so hated. I understand now, but as soon as he left Seattle it seems like he was hated. Griffey left Seattle in a worse way than A Rod did, but he was beloved.

I mean... worse, though? I won't fault any person who chooses to be paid more. Ballplayers are not saints, they can't be expected to separate business from work and choose to make less simply because fans believe in being loyal. Loyalty should be between fans and their teams, not players.

Which is why I never really grew up with a favorite player. Anyone can be made expendable; the team is forever.

Much rather have that in a player than A-Rod's glorified stats.

Honestly though...If you're part of the common Seattle fan, who would you dislike more? The guy who gave you 10 great years and an MVP season, who left to finish his career at home or the hot shot who bolted from a very good team in order to receive the most money in a contract ever?...Perception is reality. Not hard to see why Seattle started the "A-Rod'ss a scumbag" bandwagon.

Regardless...Jeter is a good ballplayer and and a great man. This farewell tour is OD to me though.

Texas gave him like 250 million....I doubt any athlete ever turns that down. A Rod gave Seattle like 5 good years and probably should've won an MVP as a rookie. Besides, Seattle won 116 games the year after. Seriously have no idea why Seattle was so bitter.

I was 100% a Twins fan back then. I did, however, feel a bit of sadness once I realized the impact he had on the city and the aura around the team. I wasn't bitter at all...I'm also not the best person to ask. Kind if why I chimed in though...The perception around the two leaving was completely different.

Now, when Marbury left...I was bitter. Definitely bitter.

Freddie Coleman is going in on the MLB for not honoring to HOFers that passed this year, during the Allstar game.

Mentioned Tony Gwynn and Ralph Kiner.
The MLB lost like 20 or so players in the last year though.

a championship def counts for a ton...but again...there's that defense up in SEA that's just as valuable
