NBA/Owners did more to drive up salaries than anybody. By trying to keep players on teams, and stay in small markets, they drove up salaries.
Need to overpay to get a player, because all the financial incentive stays with the player's current team.
When they could have just made it even across the board, and eventually the NBA would find a balancing point where stars would still be spread out anyway for lower contracts.
