LMFAO, you had me reading "sawechera" part in English and I'm just like WTF is he trying to say here?!

Finally read it in Spanish and it hit me. A lot more cycling amongst adults as well.

Someone that runs one of the SC boards on Shaw:

This has been one of the craziest days I can remember in my years of covering USC.

It started off so good, Josh is named a team captain on Saturday night and then heads home to celebrate with his family, he sees his 7-year old nephew struggling in the pool, jumps off the 2nd story to save him, and injures himself in the process. The injury part wasn't good but the spotlight on Shaw was reflecting well. The story came quickly from the athletic department, there were quotes from Sarkisian praising Shaw and even a quote from Josh saying he would do it again, even if it wasn't his nephew. The national media and college football world ate it up and by the time this morning rolled around Josh was being hailed all across the country as a hero.

The fact that it was happening to him made perfect sense. Shaw has been a model citizen since he came to USC, and the fact that he was named a team captain showed what his teammates thought of him. Josh had given an impressive speech at graduation last spring and he was forced to miss a few summer workouts because he was getting started on his career with an internship at CBRE. He even gave an interview two weeks ago praising the impact those around him had on him to reach this point:

Then the rumblings started to come out this morning that things may not be what they appeared. Steve Sarkisian stunned the press corps when he announced that the athletic department had received multiple calls saying the Shaw version of the story didn't match what actually happened. Naturally Sarkisian didn't say who called or what information they gave but it was found to be credible enough that Sark addressed it and said more information would be gathered. There was no appearance by Shaw and certainly no contact for Josh with the media.

Outside of the Sarkisian comment there has been nothing further from USC today. There was, however, a version of the story which came out on social media that suggested police involvement and domestic issues The LAPD denied that Shaw had been a suspect in anything, although his name was included on a burglary report from the apartment building of his girlfriend late Saturday night, the LAPD said it was only because the girlfriend was questioned and she mentioned Shaw as her boyfriend. TMZ later ran a story to claim that the police were asking about someone who had been climbing outside the building, and that the girlfriend mentioned the description sounded like Shaw, the police later issued a statement saying Shaw was not the suspect. Finally, the day ended with Shaw's sister going on local TV and saying that Josh had indeed jumped in the pool to save her son.

As you can tell, the story is going in completely different directions and there are no real facts yet to point which way is true. There are a lot of rumors and a lot of questions, but we don't even really know which questions to ask until we know the facts. Hopefully that comes soon.

there's also another board, at first the guy running it said he strongly believes shaw's story was fabricated, and now he's saying Shaw did nothing wrong.

whatever the case, hopefully the truth comes out soon so we can get it over with.

Sarkisian didn't come out to call him a hero? Shaw embarrassed the program and the school.
Why do you sound like a scorned teenage girl on just about every sports topic?

:lol

I can't say I know what you're talking about or that I recognize your name, but if you're bothered you can hit the block button next to my name. I'm asking an honest question.

I don't see that as the case considering USC hasn't actually said anything

I'm talking about the damage control if you're referring to today. If what's been reported today is true of course it's embarrassing, but ***** all over the place right now.

Edit: I should say rumored not even reported

Oh no, I understand. I was referring to Sark's comments. I know that USC is keeping things on a lid until they know what's gone on.

How is Sark saying today that USC is investigating reports that it's not true "damage control"?

If anything, them commenting on it is what legitimizes it for other news agencies to run with the story that it's fabricated.

As for the domestic violence or burglary stories -- the domestic violence one was just a wild guess from a blogger/reporter that people are re-posting and the burglary report is just recklessness by TMZ always trying to be first and not vetting things before they post them.

The "people" calling Sark were TMZ and other LA reporters who saw Shaw's name in a police report and have been printing that he's a suspect and was wanted by police even though they've already said publicly 2 or 3 times that that's not the case.

Now people are trying to say his girl must be lying when she said he wasn't at her building, because it doesn't fit the narrative that they want.

All we know is dude's got broke ankles and he claims he got them jumping off a balcony. We don't know anything else.

It's kind of reckless to speculate and guess solely off a TMZ report that's already been discredited.

I honestly don't care how he broke them. We won't have our starting corner for one or more games. All I care about.

Damage control by the university when it jumped at the opportunity to exploit Shaw's story yesterday and proclaim a hero among it's ranks and then to go silent and advise that it would wait for further information before commenting again.

To brazenly use the CBs story (without verifying on it's own what had happened) for it's own benefit and then back down is damage control. I understand the university had little reason to doubt what it was being told, but this should serve as a warning to other schools the price they can pay if they choose to make a student's story it's own story by extension and then be backed into a corner and forced to explain it's reason for not knowing the truth.
