Id rather the Rockets keep Dwight than receive a whole lot of nothing these trade rumors are netting in return.

meh, depends. if we assume dwight isn't coming back, i'd rather have whiteside for the rest of the year bc he has a much smaller cap hold in free agency. even if we get nothing real from the deal, we get cap relief and flexibility.

Flexibility in what particularly? Morey has been selling "flexibility" since we signed Dwight but look where it has us.

We'd have to dip into the cap to sign Whiteside regardless so after that so whether we chose to resign him or not who else would be available to sign? To me if you're trading for Whiteside Winslow has to be in the deal or it's a non starter conversation.

More is the biggest conman in the NBA. Guy is an idiot. He'd be unemployed by now if the Thunder didn't goof and panic trade Harden.

had us in the WCF last year though, and we've never been in a situation where we're locked into a bad team for years. what he's done has prepared us for exactly this type of situation where everything happens to go wrong, and now we can pivot with less difficulty than otherwise.

to the whiteside deal, i agree we want winslow, but my point remains. dwight is opting out, and there's a chance you can't resign him. if that's the case, i'd rather have the same risk with hassan whiteside, at a far lesser cap hold so we're not restricted in signing other potential free agents.

that "idiot" turned a team burdened by Yao Ming and TMac's contracts, when both weren't healthy enough to play, into a team that just made a WCF run and never once had to tank into an embarrassment like other franchises have and currently are doing.

and whether the thunder panicked or not, morey had the franchise in the position to have the assets available to make a trade like that in the event someone panicked. isn't it your job as a GM to always seek to improve the team? when has he not done that?

adding to my post from earlier, morey after flipping for harden had a team, signed dwight, was on the brinks of having a harden-parsons-bosh-dwight core until bosh reneged and parsons left for dallas. most had the rockets missing the playoffs or being the 7th-8th seed at best. Morey's moves parlayed that into a WCF run. sure, the team now stinks. with the way morey has engineered this team, friendly player deals, short term contracts, i'd be surprised if he couldn't make moves to keep us as a contender in the west going forward.

We can go over the cap resigning Dwight, we can't do that with Whiteside. I think we both agreed the focus of the team's issues aren't with Dwight or Harden but with the other 13.
