If you have the cap space, why not? You'll get it right back once he hits free agency at the end of next season. And then you're in the same position you were this year with a possible extra asset from what add-ons would come from getting Amare.

It truly boggles the mind how many terrible contracts keep getting handed out each year.
Most players dont live up to it. Getting injured or just falling off.
Dudes get huge deals after having one good season.

Amare has a great relationship with the Knicks organization and I think he's going to stay with the Knicks, even after he retires.

Amare had a solid year last year though when he was 100% healthy. If he can stay healthy this upcoming year, look for him to average 20 ppg and 8 rpg.

Without LeBron, neither Wade nor Bosh have four consecutive Finals trips and two rings. LeBron doesn't owe anyone diddly squat. He should absolutely go for the max.
