2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

I can't see Mariota leaving this year. I think he would have learned from Darron Thomas
Mariota is better than Thomas tho
but do you think Mariota will be a first round pick and battle for a starting job? especially after the mediocre year he is having so far
Did you miss him throwing 350 yards and 4 TD's in the first half last week?

People say the same thing every damn year about mobile QBs.

Cam Newton...he won't be able to run in the NFL
RG3....he won't be able to run in the NFL
Kaep....can't run in the NFL

Even Terrelle Pryor's bum self is having success in the NFL.

So spare me the Manziel won't succeed in the NFL with his style of play you Merrill Hodge sounding *** ******.
Man..Step your *** back. He was making extremely valid points. Success in the NFL should not be based off of a 3-year sample, let alone 2 games. You're talking about guys that can run...WE talkin' about QUARTERBACKS.
No. He was making the same generalizations about mobile QBs that "scouts" have been making for years. Generalizations that are applied to every mobile QB coming out even when they apply. Generalizations that have been proven to be false by multiple QBs that have come out of college the last few years.

Damn I'm late but you sound angry. Now let's look at Super Bowl winning QBs and try and find a running QB on that list. You won't find one. Stats look nice, but pocket QBs win championships.

Steve Young couldn't run? News to me.

*edit*

It's a different league - one (or a few) of these running QBs will have a ring before it's all said and done. Also, don't discount Luck. He's a pocket passer, but he's every bit as mobile as Cam Newton.

Bruh, Steve Young could run, but he was not a running QB ala Cam Newton, RG3, Pryor, etc. Primary passer.

Luck is mobile, but he is definitely a throwing QB. I define running QB by one that gets running plays specifically called for him. You're not gonna see Luck running very many zone reads.

Steve Young is #2 or #3 (not sure where he is currently) on the all-time QB rushing yard list. However, we'll ignore that.

As Cam?

But get this nfl talk outta this thread

Cam Newton wowed us last year with his performance at the combine, showing tremendous athleticism in posting a 4.59 40 yard dash, 35 inch vertical, and 10’6″ broad jump.

Well, Andrew Luck went out this morning and put up a 4.59 40 yard dash time, put up a 36″ vertical, and a 10’4″ broad jump.

K... but I was still talking about guys that are primary rushers in game. I remember that 50 yard un that Luck has vs. Cal where he stiff armed the DB into Bolivian lol.

Luck runs when he gets flushed out of the pocket. You're not gonna see the Colts running too many QB draws or bootlegs

Like Young, guys like Kap/RG3/Wilson can beat you with both their arms and legs. Obviously none of them are on Steve Young's level, but that dual-threat is part of the reason why #8 was so good. He was a running QB.

Last I'll say on it...back to college FB.

Can't wait to see how UMD does at UConn. Let's see if this offense can keep things going. Diggs show :hat

Nako: I'm looking more ahead. Dixon couldn't grasp or run a NFL offense for his life. My expectations for MM in the league are sky high. Don't let me down.

come one bro. Mariota been struggling with his accuracy this season, one of the most important things you need to have in the NFL.
Number 84 in the nation in accuracy against the mediocre and bad teams isn't going to cut it

I dont think he is up there with Tebow

for a COLLEGE QB in a system built around them Tebow is probably the best we have seen

all seriousness Tebow and Reggie Bush are 2 of the greatest college players of all time that we may ever get to see

I dont get that from Johnny.............

YET! (still think dude will cook and I will eat my words)

My Man Tommy Frazier would like to have a word with you about that...haha

33-3 record as a starter 2 National Titles, and 4 straight conference titles. And imagine how he would have been w/o the bloodclots. Tebow has better stats but Frazier is still one of the most underappreciated QB's of College Football

Q&RFT!!!!!

That pic brings back sweet memories!! :smokin :smokin :smokin

Bo is getting straight railroaded. I am shocked by all the media attention like he really did something wrong. I think he still has a shot staying with the team but he HAS to stop with these humiliating losses, or the new AD will make a move just cause

Will the Big 10 EVER play dominant football again? God that conference is poop. Was sweater-vest and the '03 squad the last great team from there?? I can't think of any.

No, because most of the Big 10 teams have things like academic standards and don't commit egregious recruiting violations on the level of the SEC and such.

Northwestern... top 25 team and graduating 100% of their seniors. UMich is still a top school as well.

Exception being tOSU and Urban Meyer. We all know about Urban.
