(Fairly) new to the sport. I didnt know they can do this but as a Martinez fan Im glad. My next question is why dontthey/can they force May and Pac?

The problem is that belts no longer mean @%$% in boxing. May and Pac could care less if the WBC or any other sanctioning body took their belt. The only thing that matters now is the payday and protecting your record.

Anyone know how much the fight is on Saturday. I think $30 is my limit, Im not shelling out $50 for this, still can't believe its not on HBO

Lol though the same thing. Neither fighter was ever a big draw in PPV. I don't even think Dawson was ever on a PPV card in his career.

HBO screwed it up, they had no budget/dates for a regular show so they had to put in on PPV. Part of the reason the Pres of HBO sports was forced out. I'm still buying it *shrugs*

Ya'll know damn well he's gonna give up that Belt. For all of Sergio's flaws, he'd still kill JCC Jr. in the ring...

Why is B Hop/Dawson at Staples, though? Aren't they both east coast fighters? Would've sold better if it was in Atlantic City or something. On top of that, it's hard to promote a card when Dawson has the personality of a rock...

They usually do it the next week.  Probably show it before the Donaire fight next week.

Les, you'd think they'd have done an East Coast venue with Paulie on the card too.  He brings a decent Brooklyn following.  Undercard fights are decent but a poor altogether effort by HBO.

Is the Paulie fight gonna be aired? Not his biggest fan, but I'd atleast like to see a notable name on the card. Also I kinda wanna see the dood that's making his pro debut at age 52 fresh out of jail.

Yea, Paulie is the first fight on the undercard. The 52 year old guy (Dewey Bozella) won't be televised but they'll show highlights.

I'm curious to see what Dewey does in the first fight.

I really don't want to spend $60 on this fight but I guess i'ma have too. If Dawson doesn't put his youth to work against Hopkins he will have a rough night.

Personally I'd rather see Collazo vs Hernandez over the Paulie fight against an absolute nobody.  Paul ie hasn't done squat at WW and wasn't exactly coming off of a great run at JWW.  I think I'd rather even watch the Bozella fight

I remember they were trying to secure an East Coast venue, Prudential Center in particular, but there were schedule conflicts.
