Because they were entertaining going to the ACC. Believe it or not your pre-conceived opinion of why the ACC is not a good fit for Texas isn't what's guiding all these discussions.
I don't think they were entertaining it. What they were doing was using it as leverage. Texas had a ton of it starting last season, but it has slowly whittled away. They could've joined the Pac 10 on their terms last season. Now, they will be joining on the Pac 12's terms.
Talk about over playing your hand.
Going to the ACC was just a bluff.
THANK YOU!
whats the different when you heard rumors of texas going to the big10 last year and the ACC this year? NOTHING its all about texas trying to use them as leverage. you really think the good ol boys around texas and there fans base want to travel up and down the east coast from Boston College to Florida year in and year out in all sports? HELL NO. ACC gains more by adding texas then texas gains by going to the ACC.
And Rutgers was the next option behind Nebraska. Those dudes are as good as in (even the ACC is courting). B1G is salivating over the New York/Jersey market and east coast.
i though mizzou and pitt where the next options. like ironman said in making a super conference i dont see how rutgers gets in. bball sucks and football sucks. it was said last time around that getting Rutgers would not get you the NY market since nobody gives a rats *+@ about rutgers there.
And you'll probably see TAMU join that bloc once we finally get formally accepted.
i dont even see why A&M would say no. i mean you just got accpeted in and going to try deny someone the samething
i mean they would have some to fight over last place with.
