The whole unrealistic expectations thing is so stupid. There's no reason the program should be in the position it's in today. A lot of the fans probably have pretty lofty expectations in wanting 10 win seasons every year, but there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't be a top 10-15 team most years. We're in the middle of a talent hotbed, we have pretty nice facilities (that need upgrading), we have a huge fanbase with a good bit of money, pretty good academics...College Station isn't for everybody, but it's a good little college town.
I don't agree with keeping Sherman around for the sake of continuity and stability going into the SEC. We're already changing conferences, so we might as well start with a clean slate.
One of our biggest problems is Old Army clinging to old traditions. If it were up to most of the younger crowd, things would probably be considerably different. New Army doesn't care about a coach being in the Good Ol' Boys network. We want a guy like Kevin Sumlin. Unfortunately the old guys are the ones with the most influence, and they want a guy like Mike Sherman even if it means not winning big.
Give me Kevin Sumlin with Mike Stoops as DC, with a young OC that will recruit his +*% off. Give me Larry Fedora with Chad Morris at OC, with an up coming DC that will work his +*% off. Give me Gus Malzahn with Trooper Taylor at OC and a young fiery DC. No more of this emotionless Franchione and Sherman crap.
