did they say which players were being traded?
Trade-talk roundup: What we know
Marc Stein: The Miami Heat have indeed expressed interest in San Antonio's Roger Mason, but the Miami deal that interested the Spurs most is no longer possible.
TheSpurs were hoping to tempt Miami into absorbing Mason's $3.8 millionexpiring contract into a $4.3 million trade exception that would haveenabled the teams to complete a deal without San Antonio needing totake back another player. A future second-round pick from the Heatwould have completed the transaction.
But the Heat, dealing withtheir own luxury-tax issues like San Antonio and reluctant to add totheir payroll, ultimately declined.
And the trade exception in question -- created through the departure of Marcus Banks in Miami's Shawn Marion trade with Toronto on Feb. 15, 2009 -- expired Monday at midnight.
TheSpurs and Mason's agent, Mark Bartelstein, have mutually agreed topursue trades before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, but it'll takea new trade construction to get Mason to Miami now if the Heat want totry again.
San Antonio is more than $10 million over theluxury-tax threshold, so the deal proposed Monday to Miami would havecut their tax bill by nearly 40 percent. Miami is roughly $2.8 millionover the tax threshold.

Chad Ford: The Knicks and Rockets spoke Wednesday morning about a potential Tracy McGradytrade. Sources familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com thatalthough the Knicks told the Rockets they remain interested inacquiring the shooting guard in a deal for Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries, they are still unwilling to meet all of the Rockets' demands -- cap relief, Jordan Hill, the swapping of 2011 first-round picks and the Knicks' 2012 first-round pick.
"We'dlike McGrady and the cap relief," one Knicks source said. "But theRockets are asking for too much. We're willing to pay a premium to makea deal. But the price right now is still too high."
According tothe source, the Rockets are still looking for other partners. The Bullshave been mentioned as a possibility, but sources believe their offeris less attractive than the Knicks' -- even if the Knicks don't givethe Rockets everything they're asking for.
http://
Chad Ford:The Knicks also had several other trades brewing Wednesday. Two sourcessaid the Celtics and Knicks are in advanced talks about a Nate Robinson-for-Eddie House swap. However, both sources stressed that a deal was not completed yet.
The Timberwolves also inquired about a possible Darko Milicic-for-Brian Cardinaldeal. The Knicks might be inclined to pull the trigger (it could savethem some cash this year) depending on what happens with the Rocketsand Celtics.

Chad Ford: All is still quiet on the Amare Stoudemiretrade front. As of Wednesday afternoon, sources familiar with thenegotiations said the Suns have yet to signal whether the team willtrade Stoudemire to the Cavs or Heat -- or whether it will trade him atall.
The Cavs have been pushing for the Suns to give them ananswer. But Phoenix is holding out and likely will wait until Thursdayto make a decision, according to sources.
Of the two teams vyingfor Stoudemire, only the Heat have actually received permission fromthe Suns to speak to Stoudemire's agent. The Cavs, as of Wednesdayafternoon, have yet to call.
Still, sources close to thenegotiations say that, right now, Cleveland is the front-runner. Why?Because the Heat have yet to offer the Suns a deal that would beat theCavs' offer of Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson. One source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com that the Heat have yet to offer Michael Beasley or either of their two first-round picks.
"I'mnot sure Miami is willing to pay the price for Amare," a Suns sourcetold ESPN.com. "We have to get something for him. We're not giving himaway. If Miami gets serious, then I think they would get him. But rightnow, they are not showing they're serious."
Is there a possibility Stoudemire won't be traded at all?
"It's possible," the Suns source said. "We haven't been blown away with an offer yet."
Ifthe Suns decide to keep Stoudemire, it could be a rocky few months. Asource familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com that the Suns andStoudemire have ended all talks on a contract extension. If Stoudemireplays out the season in Phoenix, he'll likely leave this summer.
"He's being personally wooed by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade,"the source said. "On the other side, he's being actively shopped by theSuns. He feels like he may be more wanted elsewhere."

Chad Ford: For weeks, sources close to the situation have asserted to ESPN.com that the Wizards were reluctant to trade Antawn Jamison. During the past 72 hours, however, the Wizards' position on Jamison appears to have softened considerably.
Sourcessay the Wizards and Cavs had discussions on Tuesday about severalpotential deals that would send Jamison to Cleveland. The same sourcessaid talks ended without a firm offer from Cleveland.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Wizards are waiting on the Cavs to see whether those potential deals become an actual trade.
"Theball is in Cleveland's court," one source told ESPN.com. "If Clevelandcomes back with a firm offer based on the potential deals theydiscussed, I think the Wizards will move Jamison."
The Wizards' new stance on Jamison is being fueled by two factors. First, the trade of Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood for Josh Howardhas left the team in rebuilding mode. And Jamison, who signed anextension with the club 18 months ago expecting to be on a contender, would like to be traded to a team with title aspirations.
"Jamisonis a great guy," one source said. "He's been a model player for theWizards on and off the floor. The Wizards don't want to lose him. He'sbeen a rock in the locker room. However, I think the Wizards want to doright by him. He's at the end of his career. He deserves to have achance to win a title."
The other factor is the Wizards arecurrently over the NBA's luxury-tax threshold. At least one potentialdeal discussed with Cleveland on Tuesday (Jamison and Mike James for Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jamario Moon)would put the Wizards below the tax this season. Getting below the taxcould save the Wizards around $10 million this year once you factor inrebates that teams under the tax receive from the league.
If the Cavs decide to pull the trigger on the Amare Stoudemire deal instead, look for the Wizards to explore ways of trading Jamison during the summer.
http://
Chris Broussard:Sources with direct knowledge of negotiations between the Cavaliers andWizards deny a report that the Cavs have made an offer (Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Jamario Moon, first-round pick) for Antawn Jamison.
The clubs have had discussions, but no offer is on the table, according to the sources.
Cleveland is still waiting for Phoenix to give a verdict on its offer of Ilgauskas, J.J. Hickson and a first-round pick for Amare Stoudemire. But the Cavs' interest in Jamison is real. Cleveland is very excitedabout Hickson's development and if the Cavs could obtain Jamisonwithout giving up Hickson, they might consider taking that deal overthe Stoudemire deal.
The Cavs have also had talks with Indiana about Troy Murphy, as well as with Golden State about Corey Maggette.
Phoenix has been shopping Cleveland's offer around the league, basically asking clubs whether they can top it.
Miamiis trying, and Charlotte also tried to get in the discussions. But theBobcats don't have any expiring contracts, so they have nothing ofinterest to the Suns. Sources say Stoudemire would not be interested inre-signing with Charlotte anyway.
There has been speculation thatthe Cavs are not truly interested in Stoudemire because they have yetto contact his agent, Happy Walters, about whether Stoudemire wouldsign a long-term deal with Cleveland.
But sources close to thesituation say Stoudemire would be of value to the Cavaliers regardlessof his feelings about a long-term contract. If things go well andCleveland wins a title, he likely will want to re-sign, and if hedoesn't want to re-sign, the Cavs will be able to use him in asign-and-trade deal.
Milwaukee, loaded with expiring contracts, is one of the moreactive teams and is expected to make a deal before the Thursdaydeadline. The Bucks have interest in Indiana's Murphy, but the Pacers'asking price is too steep.
Denver, in search of a big man, contacted the Bucks about Kurt Thomas and Hakim Warrick. But talks didn't go far after the Nuggets refused to offer any of their rotation players.

You should've seen Perkins. He should've had about 20 points, but he got blocked or turned it over numerous times. Evans even swatted him.
CLEVELAND -- There are indications the Cavaliers' chase of Amar'e Stoudemire is about to reach a climax.
While the Phoenix Suns were still hoping to allow for more time, both to weigh the big decision and to see if other bids for the All-Star forward emerge, they are being pushed by both Stoudemire and the Cavs to make up their minds.
According to sources, as time runs out before Thursday's trade deadline and with other trade options on the table that the Cavs need to decide on, the organization has turned up the heat and is attempting to get the Suns to take or leave the Cavs' trade offer. It is believed to center on Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson but would involve one more player and perhaps a draft pick.
Also on Wednesday, Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, told the Associated Press in Phoenix that it would not make sense to not trade Stoudemire and risk losing him in free agency this summer. Walters told the AP that he expected the Suns' game Wednesday night in Dallas to be Stoudemire's last.
Walters and the Suns exchanged contract extension offers last week and the sides, according to a source, were not close.
Both of these tactics seem to have the same mission: force the Suns into action.
There has been some belief that Phoenix is still considering an option of not trading Stoudemire -- they pulled him off the trade market in the final days before the deadline last year -- and hold out hope they could work something out in the summer. The Suns have won six of their last seven games heading into Wednesday night.
If the Suns decide not to make the trade, the Cavs are expected to turn their full attention to making a deal with the Washington Wizards for forward Antawn Jamison.
get it done ferry
