odom has taken a hit in his contract year by deciding to come off the bench, sacrificing minutes. That alone should tell u why he isnt getting 10 mil by otherteams..not because he isnt good. theres no doubt in my mind if odom had started and averaged 38 minutes a game he would be avg 15 and 11

I was reading in another forum and somebody brought up a crazy trade but I wanted to share it with you guys
Utah gets-Milsap
Portland gets-Odom
Lakers get-Boozer

Money wise the Lakers would have to throw somebody else in there but thats pretty crazy.. I don't like it but if Odom is set on leaving maybe a sign andtrade would be our best option..or give Odom a 1 year 10mil contract and let him see what he can get next year then he would be good trade bait at the half waypoint through next year if things aren't going as well..

The Times has reported that Odom and his agent, Jeff Schwartz, are seeking $10 million a season. The Lakers have offered Odom a deal north of $9 million a season for the first three years.

Odom and Schwartz are seeking more money and years.

"I can't discuss that," said Odom, who attended a screening party Monday night for the DVD featuring the Lakers' 2008-09 championship run. "You talk about money, it's touchy. It's a touchy subject.

"The Lakers have been too good to me to rub people over there the wrong way. The Lakers have been nothing but great to me, and I want to keep the relationship great."

Lakers owner Jerry Buss, who improved on his offer of $8 million a season to Odom, is getting frustrated and is thinking about pulling the deal off the table soon.

Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak talked at halftime of a game between the Lakers and Clippers on Monday in Las Vegas at the summer league, saying that the talks with Odom left him "not as hopeful as I was on Friday."

When asked why, Kupchak said, "Just a feeling you get."

"Right now, I'm not sure we're on the same page."

Odom was asked whether it was true the Miami Heat had made him an offer.

The Heat has only the midlevel exception of $5.8 million but might be willing to give Odom a five-year, $34-million deal. Miami signed Odom to a five-year, $65-million contract in 2003 before trading him to the Lakers in 2004 in a deal involving Shaquille O'Neal.

"I don't know how to answer that question," Odom said about Miami being a suitor. "I'm pretty sure there might be other teams. I just won a championship."

Lamar Odom has been an underachiever his whole career, what have fans said about him that are far from the truth?

People who called for his head were tired of his lackadaisical attitude on the court, but we understood what his versatility could bring us when he has hishead on straight.

I'm a Laker fan 1st and if Odom wants to be a *** then peace!! Give me Josh Powell I don't care cause I believe when can win without Odom.. What firstKobe can't win one without Shaq now its Odom? If he doesn't take the offer for 9mill then he needs to get the #$%^ out!!!

Lamar and his agent have handled these negotiations the right way. They have done nothing wrong.

People starting to bash LO and wanting him gone now? Wow is all I have to say. This is a business thing, and sometimes it takes time to get a deal done. Some patience would do us good.

8.5 is still a massive pay cut. Over 4 years that sums up to at least 10 million dollars. That's a lot, especially since we would still be in the black every year even if we paid Lamar 11 mill. I don't really see why the players should be taking these big pay cuts when the owners make a ton of money every single year even if they don't.

LO is not going to be some bad investment like Sasha or Luke where his contract will hurt more than his contributions on the court help. If anything, we never should have given those guys those deals so we could spend a little extra on the guys who will produce while still making the ownership group happy.

some of the fan reaction towards odom shows that this fanbase isn't really all that experienced with free agency when they should be. when kobe was a free agent in 04, he took even longer than this to make up his mind (july 16th). when butler was up for an extension in 05, the lakers didn't trade him to WAS til july 14th. when the lakers had to trade shaq in 04, he didn't get moved til july 15th. when the lakers signed payton and malone, it wasn't til july 16th.

if something isn't done by friday, then i'd panic. like i said though, the hold up is that portland's money still isn't officially committed. when that's off the table, lamar will know his options are gone and he'll take the lakers money.

honestly. I don't see how LO goes to any other team. meaning if he does, this guy is just as stupid, or more as ariza. this dude has made enough money toreach his grand children. look @ fisher, he is taking the hugest pay cut in the league ? why ? because he knows that it does not take that much money to be"happy." even if LO take the supposed 7-8 million, if he wins another chip, he will receive a 2-3 million dollar bonus which will make the GT ofaround 10-11 million. which he is asking for. so for him to leave a championship caliber team for 2 million will be a really really ******ed move.
