Why does every basketball post now have to somehow involve either Kobe or the Golden State Warriors?
The OP asked Duncan or Shaq? Obviously you have to mention Kobe when talking about Shaq's rings but it isn't Duncan vs. Kobe vs. Shaq.
I think Duncan is the most successful player in the post-Michael Jordan era. He's won 4 titles as the superstar of the team. He has had a greatsupporting cast with guys such as Manu, Parker and David Robinson (although he was declining) but Duncan has always been the undisputed best player on histeam. He's still in his early-30s and has a chance to win 2-3 more titles.
Shaq has been amazing as well but the 3-rings he won with the Lakers are split 50/50 with Kobe. The title with Miami was mostly D-Wade.

When he as the MAN he did. So after he left the Lakers the rule no longer applied. And I do believe we are no longer in the Post Jordan Era.

My vote is for Duncan.
But for the thread starter, I dont see how you can possibly make this post and not include Kobe. I hate the Lakers so there is no bias here. But you based thisquestion on four different criteria, and every single one of them Kobe more than qualifies at.

2000 Shaq (MVP year/first year of the Lakers three peat) quite possibly was the best individual year in terms of sheer dominance that I've ever seen. Evenbetter than Jordan's 89 year. If Shaq played at that level during that year in particular for a couple more years, this would not even be close. He stillwas a dominant player in the last two chips of the Lakers three peat, but ofcourse beyond that he began to slouch during the regular season unlike before andsit out for some pretty petty injuries/Held off off-season surgery etc. That's why he doesn't have as many MVP's as he should.
Duncan has always been more stable defensivly though. That really is the only edge that he had on Prime Shaq, however.

You clearly didn't read my WHOLE first post
Not only does Kobe have the LEAST amount of rings of the 3; he ALSO played a semi-supporting role for ALL 3 of his rings. His 3 rings CAN NOT count as muchas Shaq's 3 rings that he had in LA.

Duncan, no contest. He's got many years left, isn't as injury prone as Shaq, and his team has not missed the playoffs since he was drafted. He's aproven winner.

Another question; LOGICALLY how can ANYONE put Kobe above TD or Shaq? I mean WHAT evidence would one have to support that claim? NOTHING. So LEAVING Kobeout of the equation really isn't and shouldn't be an issue considering NOTHING he has doen is more than what EITHER one of those dudes have done

Shaq has went to 6 finals and won 4 rings. He played against very good centers in their PRIME during his career. He's played MJ's bulls during theirtitle runs. I still see shaq as the better player. The only real competition Duncan has played against is Shaq and the aging superstars of the 90s.

Well excuse ME for having a perfectly reasonable opinion that differs from the norm...
.... And how do you have to be biased to think it's Kobe? Irealize that this forum is polluted equally with Kobe hate and love, but I've done neither. He just happens to be the guy that I think has been the bestplayer since Him and I've presented my case, right or wrong. How can you HONESTLY call the YOUNG Kobe a tag-along Champ when he was doing the same stuff, at the same ageas D-Wade?
