I really don't think it is even up for discussion that these two are the best two (not most skilled = Kobe) of this era.

When you factor in: Dominance, Consistency, Rings, and Ability. These two are easily #1 and #2.

But my question for you is WHO is #1 and who is #2?

Place your bets

If you could PLEASE not mention anyone's name that is not in consideration. So no Kidd, GP, Iverson, KG talk because NOTHING about them says #1 or #2 ofthis era. I can accept bringing up Kobe just because he was along for the ride for 3 rings.

Also if you WILL not counter the RINGS argument with asking something along the lines of:
Since rings make the player than Horry, Kerr, Manu, TP should be in the top 2.
No they shouldn't; the ring argument can ONLY be used when comparing players of the SAME level.

But yea carry on

It's still Shaq.

Duncan can have something to say about it this post season though.

Kobe:

3 rings, MVP, numerous first team nods, first steam defender, single best player in the league all around, COMPARABLE to MJ, 81 points, 40-point game streak, most 3s in a game, and still < 30 years old

along for the ride?

Those are "riding" numbers? I guess... Peep the playoff statline on D-Wade for the 05-06 season

Wade does 28-6-6 an gets finals MVP but Kobe does 29-6-5 (in '01) and gets to "ride with Shaq" to the ring... OK

I'll say Shaq right now but you can't go wrong with either one of them.

Again with Kobe; he is EASILY the most skilled. That is without a doubt.

But I believe UNTIL he has NUMEROUS rings as the Big Dog on a squad then he can not be considered #1. Sorry, that is just the way the cookie crumbles for Kobe.

Kobe is the best individual talent though. But as I stated earlier, that is only ONE aspect when it comes to determining the BEST

Hope that made sense

Shaq for the early part of the decade was the most dominant player in the NBA, but, Duncan has been able to maintain the consistency and dominance throughoutthe entire decade. Thus it will be my unanimous decision to say Duncan is the best player.

damn these kobe referencnes dont stop even when he isnt included...ima have to go with shaq he couldnt be stopped back in the days he was dominant

I believe he said we COULD include Kobe. Besides, that's who I honestly think is the best since Him. It ain't like I just said "Hey I like Kobemore!". I put numbers behind mine...

Thats why I would give it to Shaq first.

Yea I said it because I know Kobe's name would come up regardless. But I don't think he is #1 or #2 by any stretch.
I will go with Duncunbecause of consistency.

Shaq? LOL Any player who has to be taken out at the end of every game at crucial moments because he is a liability should not be mentioned alongside TimDuncan.

Duncan has been the best and MOST CONSISTENT player since MJ retired in 98.

TIM DUNCAN FTW

How can you say that Kobe has been more dominant than Duncan sinceJordan?

Duncans Resume':
4-Time NBA Champion
3-Time NBA Finals MVP
2-Time NBA MVP
10 All-Star Games
10 All-NBATeams
10 All-NBA Defensive Teams
