🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Drake & PND Album Fall 2024

Right cause you had to wiki that. Sting himself also said its reference to cameras and the government watching people during the Cold War and the song could be interpreted in different ways. So technically we could both be right

All I did was post a source fam. That's all I did.

"The lyrics are actually spoken from a character with sinister intent. At the time of the song’s writing Sting had just divorced his first wife, Frances Tomelty. While his intention may have been to write a sweet, emotional love song from the beginning, he was soon realizing that he was entering into a dark place that fought for control and surveillance. Being in the midst of the Cold War, at that time, did not help the situation."

"Sting has said that this song is about a surveillance and control over lovers, though it can have multiple meanings. The lyrics can also be a chilling description about how the government watches us, it makes sense as cameras were all over London at this time"

So were both right? It could have a double meaning since he's given various definitions on the lyrics.

I've always heard that it was about a dude stalking his lover so this new info about it being about the government is new to me.

Future verse was trash. The Future hive is out of control. Approaching Ye/Drake/Beyonce level stannery now

We really in here talking about this *****

400

Production on the album was decent, still think TLOP sonically sounds better.

That's most likely due to Mike Dean's post production and analog moog.

There's nothing comparable to how rich and warm that bass sounds.

Flows and content definitely goes to Drake on Views even though he clearly states

I got a career off of reminiscing
roll.gif
!  This is very truthful.

Hey if the formula works then why deviate?

Especially if women are in love with it.

Favorite track has to be Weston Road Flow str8

That Brandy sample is so nostalgic!

Overall the album is alright just like TLOP was alright nothing of classic status from start to finish.

Jay-z like Kanye west have nothing else to rap about. It's impossible for them to duplicate the hunger they once had, they've been filthy rich and successful for a long time. I'm cool on another hov album.

man if Jay-Z announces a new album you'll see a 1,000 page thread in a week

After a couple more listens I got a few new opinions

Production wise it might be his best album

After more listens Future did go off but not even close to best verse on album

Songs where Drake snapped are Views and Weston Road flows

People wanted a turn up album .... But he literally just dropped 20+ turn up songs (if you're reading this and what a time) and people complained and wanted old Drake back

This is old drake imo

Musically great ... Wish there was more songs like The 2 I mentioned . I would love a full rap drake album but that's not who he is so we will probably never get that

Views is "Drakes Sound" to a T

Feel No Ways gotta be listened once or twice to get a good feel of it. Majid Jordan so damn good on production :hat

Brandy sample :lol :lol

album overall is pretty good after 1 listen . nothing legendary or classic . has a few dry spots , a solid number of decent/good tracks, and a few absolute heaters (Weston Road Flow and With You :eek ) . Weston Road Flows is my absolute favorite

feel like the album would have bee better with a few less songs . 20 tracks is a bit excessive

oh and A LOT of the punchlines made me wince. I dont remember which ones off hand but when you hear them you'll know exactly what I mean. like a bunch of his friends were throwing out corny jokes and he decided to put them on the album.

on the other hand I really liked the "I could GPS you if you need addressing" line.

Reminds me of most of his old punch lines, a little too predictable /borderline corny. This is why I think he has a team of writers behind him, like a TV character. Which he was. Not saying he's not capable of coming up with heat, but i think he has a team.

One common theme I'm seeing A LOT of people say this album should be shorter. I find that **** funny as hell because most of y'all were hoping for a double album and said he could carry it.

I'm also seeing a lot of people liking 6-8 songs. That's less than half. Not a good look.

I'm hyped to hear 40s beats. He got some fire. I really wish he would step out and do beats for other rappers and singers. He's way too dope to just be doing beats for just one pop artist.

Something tells me the physical version will have extra stuff on it (features, etc)...someone made a good point here that Jay/Ye arent featured cause of Apple vs Tidal

Also the rumored documentary that he's been posting stills from may be packaged with that
