🎾 Official Nike Tennis (and other brands as well) Thread 🎾

At least Roger's elephant print was well executed. No wonder Rafa, didn't like his

The night looks really good on his feet. I think I'll pick up a pair since I struck out on the AJ3.

All 3 pairs from this USO are good, imo.
Agreed, this year's pack is much better than last year's terrible "3M pack".

Love the pink hits on the swoosh and midsole.

This may be the first pair of 9.5's I pick up.  Currently own 4 pairs of the 9's.

An extra thought: For some reason, I like the mismatched polo shirts that the players have been wearing at the US Open, where one sleeve is 1 color and the other sleeve is a different color.  Saw Tomic with the pink and grey polo shirt a few days ago.

Yeah, roughly $120.  I'd never play with it though... more for collecting.  I already own too many sticks...

Anyone know why the Vapor 9.5 "nights" don't have the RF branding on the midsole and the "days" do?

Fed's pe vapor 9.5 looks a lot better than what we get. I think his midsole has pl or a shiny finish, rf branding and the shade of hyper punch swoosh looks darker as well, almost crimson. The upper on the toe doesn't look like the cheap mesh.

More importantly @mugen81 posted this in the women & kicks thread

Because Nike is lazy and doesn't care.

Honestly I can't figure out what their deal is with this. It's not that hard, and it's really annoying.

The head is too small for me to play with regularly, but I've considered getting one just to mess around with.
Yeah, I actually regret not getting this when I had the chance... another racquet just to mess around with.  At close to 370g, it's a beast!

I'm definitely not good enough to hit with either!

This is nothing new... Fed's PE's will never be close to the GRs cuz his feet are super-wide... he'll always have his own mold, so it'll never have the same shape as the GRs for starters.  The materials and tread-pattern are also tailored to his specs cuz, remember, him and Rafa (as well as the other top players) don't need the durability.  The rubber will probably be lighter (less durable), while the materials on the upper might be softer & lighter.  The GR's have a stiff toe-cap for the durability.  The top Nike guys get new pairs every tournament/match.

As for the colors... could just be the lighting and the colors of the photo.

I never quite figured out how they decided to use Rafa & Fed's logos on the shoes... Probably for the Slam c/w's?  But then again, it's not on the blackouts. Hmmm.

Never mentioned anything about shape or size of the mold. That hasn't stopped most nike gr basketball shoes being almost exactly replicated in terms of styling to the pe's that the players on court wear. Sure a pe may get better quality material, special insoles etc.. But the styling usually remains the same or replicated as close to the pe as possible for the masses. They even cheaped people on the cf plate on the vapor aj 3, they throw cf on everything, but not on a $200 limited shoe.

They rarely put the RF logo on the released Vapors. The day USO this year, AJ3, 2012 Wimbledon, maybe a couple others but it's few and far between.

Should just put it on all of them.

For what it's worth, the 287 pair was $287 and had no cf plate. I would be shocked if they put that on any publicly released Vapor.

Yep, 287 as well. It doesn't make much sense for nike to leave it off the design. It's not a substantial cost difference, especially if the release is limited.

From what the owner of the local shop told me is that the rationale Nike not wanting to put the branding on ALL the cw's is because they want the average joe or jane pick up the shoe who, may not even play tennis, but ,buy and wear the shoe causally. For the tennis head, we have our favorite player(s) and will buy specifically that player kit. So, that's why nike went all generic and wants to expand the models to the general consumers. You guys notice that Vika or Masha no longer wear women specific shoes. They either wear vapors or LBs. Li na rocks the old cages and Serena wears her old models.
Also, the bidding war is on for Andy Murray. Nike knows Fed is in his twilight ( yeah, it must suck to be top 3 in the world) Nadal still has some years left. So, nike wants to keep another top tener in their stable. Dudes like Del Po and harrison and lower tier players will eventually get cut. Grigor will continue to be a face and likely be the 3rd nike player.

Materials and shape may be different but at least the CW and design is the same. So you feel you are buying and wearing the same shoe. Was there a season in the NBA recently where Lebron never wore his Lebron model of that year and a season when Wade was with JB and never wore his signature model? And Nadal never wears the kicks Heidi advertises as his. The days seem to be gone when you saw the kick on your favourite athlete (for me it was Agassi and Edberg) and then went out and could buy the same thing

Anybody pay for the tennis channel plus? If so are you happy with it?

it's okay

I could probably live without it though. most of the time i don't even realize that I have it. in my instance, it came with the sports package that I have

How much does your service provided charges for it?

The channel itself comes with my cable service, and I watch it mostly during slams, but I recently downloaded the app which allows you to watch it on the go and they offered tennis channel plus to those who already have the tennis channel. Here's the details. I think I already have what you have proto, was curious about this extra deal... Not sure though....
