Haha, I should clarify what I meant. To put it in perspective, if you DID have to spend the money on shoes, I cited the hand-made dress shoes made by Ferragamo as an example of something better within the shoe realm you could spend that dough on. Only then you'd have to be a wall street/Don Draper type who wore $3,000 suits to work. Would I own any pair of $800 shoes? Not unless I was a loaded with cash and even then the blue collar would come out in me.
But yes, if I'm allowed to suggest what another man should do with his (presumably) hard earned cash, I'd point him towards a smarter investment. I just dumped $600 on tires for my jeep but I need those tires to get me to and from a place of employment, so it's a good investment. Spending that on shoes? No way. You'd never get that money back and if you did, you should be ashamed for selling it to the poor schmuck who doesn't know any better.
