🎾 OFFICIAL AGASSI RETRO THREAD 🎾

Everyone that is complaining about the new ones, please refer to my last post. Player exclusive Air Challenge Huarache's had ATC III midsole. The ones McEnroe is wearing in this photo look exactly like the new ones (but with slight color differences). Also, TECHNICALLY, they did change the name of them to the Air Tech Challenge Huarache. Also, IMO, if nike just released the same shoe, it would be in some ways lazy on their part. New CWs are good, and I actually enjoy some of the new ones (except those red ones lol). Also if you want the real deal, there are plenty of Air Challenge Huaraches sitting on ebay now.

Sitting on Ebay that are essentially unwearable due to age/oxidation.

Problem though is look at the mold of those pictured compared to what's on the horizon.  The new molds look like banana boats/slippers in terms of toebox height/shape.

The silhouette is totally off

Wow, they really F'd these up BAD!!!

Please don't do this to the ATC 4's like you did with those horrific hybrids a few years back!

They'll never learn.
i totally agree with you

but what they do learn is maximizing their profits with those ugly molds and squeezing money out of the consumer

i care more about the air flares they destroyed in 06/07.how you gonna change the swoosh and call them a proper retro.would love to own a og pair of flares in my life.

Yeah those were definitely nice. I have the black white retro from early 2000 still. Adding my 2 cents on the Huarache... money saved for me. This looks no where near what the OG was. I had the teal colorway myself.

Yea the og's on ebay are not wearable at this point and as I mentioned before, Andre didn't wear that version that McEnroe is wearing so that's all I care about as far as that goes. I'd want the style that he had back in the day but these aren't that bad considering they changed the name of the shoe. I'm wondering how they will hold up for playing tennis.

Smh....nike really poooped the bed on these...I mean MAYBE I could look past the wrong sole....but the midsole and toebox makes these uncoppable

I guess it depends on how you play... are you a toe-dragger?  I am, so for sure the toe-guard won't last.  I played in my ATC 3's back in the day and the first part that started to go was the toe-guard and upper... separation.  I'm also guessing that Nike won't be using XDR, so there goes the durability as well.   The Huarache should be nice though.

these shouldnt even be called retros, theyre drastically different and are more of a retro + model rather than a true to form retro
unreal i wonder nike knows theyre setting themselves up for failure? different midsole different color blocking = totally different shoe smh

Well I'm definitely not going to use my US Open's for tennis since they were hard to get. You remember the ATC's used to be made of durathane on the sole? My atc's always held up nicely back then.

Though it's not really a different midsole..... they have used it before, for PE Air Challenge Huaraches. I've also ready that the ATC III midsole is superior to the regular sole in almost every way. As for the different colors, I think it would be somewhat silly to only release the old colors all over again. They have the yellow/black and the white/light blue as "OG", and the rest are new CWs. I don't see anything really wrong with that... As for the shape of the shoe, I have no comment on that, that's not something I feel qualified to judge. I'll probably pick up a pair or two though. However, for all we know they'll be Euro release only and we won't even see them in the US at all.

Yes, I remember that! It was imprinted on the outsole!  But my problem was never the durability of the outsole itself, but more on the design of the toe-area and upper/outsole separation.  I don't drag as bad as this, but you get the idea! LOL.  I like that Nike later addressed this in the Air Resistance with the kevlar toeguard.

The only positive i can see comin out of these Air Tech Horrifics is that there's an accurate release comin of the III's and/or IV's since its pretty much the same midsole if im not mistaken? Absolutely nothing to count on tho..

The midsole is not even close to what makes these such a terrible retro. If I was shown those two shoes in the same colorway without being told one is a retro I would have thought they were different shoes with a similar colorway.

Im saying there is a million things wrong with this retro. Considering the ATC III soles were in the PEs that is forgivable. But that is a terrible rendition of of the ATC III sole. The shape of the shoe is terrible. The perforations are out of place. Cant tell if the ankleguard/sockliner/whatever it is called is lower or the tongue is higher. Why is it a different color? Why is the cutouts on the toebox drastically different? Why is the blue a completely different shade?

I know some of you guys have been waiting for this for a long time but your money is better used elsewhere.

Hmmm... that's interesting... for the "OG" c/w, they went with 2-tone white/grey instead of the all-white... also dropped the teal-Huarache bootie?  Could be just a sample-pic.

The cut out shapes in the shoe seem to be different depending on the shoe. Note that the ones above have the same cut outs as the ones that are coming out next year. Where as the ones below have one large cutout.

^^They all look pretty good to me.  I like what they're doing with the atc II.  Cant wait for some of the OG colors next year as well.

Smh again...at least theyre not makin the 2's a hybrid but those colorways are wack and not feelin the suede on this shoe...the only decent one is the grey n orange
