Also - the bumblebee was retroed - remember that??  Was that the only racquet of his that's ever been retroed?

The retro was awful. The mold was not the same as the og which was made in Austria, it was made in China. Completely different racquet. Really disappointed in Head for not telling people that when they took pre-orders.

I did not know that; glad I didn't buy one when they were discounted then!  I'll have to look to ebay or tt if mine ever bust.  I saw tenniswarehouse was going to get in some Austria-made Head racquets, but haven't happened to see them release yet.  Maybe I missed it.  Does Head make anything comparable to the original 260 anymore?

Last 260 that was og went for about $500 on ebay. The retro goes for really cheap as like I was saying, it's simply not the same stick. I'm not sure what's out from Head today that's comparable to it.

He hated the original Donnay so he originally used the POG and had a Donnay stencil. Then Donnay came up with a new mold known as the Pro-One so if you bought the blue and yellow Donnay, that was not the same mold that he used. The blue and yellow Donnay also had a protruding red butt cap which was different from his model. He did once use the Ultimate Pro at the French, should be in that pic I posted of him breaking it. He used a couple of other sticks to tinker with but the 260 was clearly his favorite as Head always gave him custom paint jobs when they tried to sell newer models.

Yes, I'm familiar with that story too!

I had the Ultimate Pro too!  My one and only widebody stick!

My Pro-One's were the orange/great ones... which had a similar beam to the POG... so for me, the Pro-One and POG felt reasonably similar.

And yeah, I remember seeing the yellow Pro-Ones back then with the rounded-beam + red buttcap.

Cheater!
