I understand all of it the optics are just hella bad.

You trade cp3 + a pick for Russ. The pick is top 4 protected and you don’t think anything of it until Harden demands a trade and you become a bottom 5 team in the league. Now you need that pick in the worst way otherwise both the harden and the Russ/cp3 trades look even worse. You have to go all in on a tank.

I still think they could’ve got better value for Allen and LaVert. You don’t have to pay them until the summer plus you can always sign & trade at that point. But if they just want to be as bad as possible to keep their pick, it makes sense.

Houston fans got ****** tho. Your superstar demands a dumbass trade and then dips a year later and you have nothing to show for it. Tough scene.
