I'm not saying Ligue 1 is bad, but they're not as good as they should or could be.

When you take a look at the statistics and rankings, Portugal, a country with 10 million people and a quarter of France's size and economic power, has a "better" league. France is one of the most powerful and richest countries in the world, even before the oil money at PSG, France has always underachieved with their league, FOR DECADES.

But they've been producing top quality talent since the 1970's. It doesn't make sense, it doesn't add up. They literally let the EPL snatch up allll their talent. Ligue 1 should be a way better league. They don't need the Arab oil money, they just need better management and direction.

Props to my dad, he's been saying this for years , he convinced me long ago. He gets heated about it too because France is his home, he gets really Frenchy and prideful

But their is something my dad was dead wrong about, after France won the WC in 1998, he used to tell me and all his friends that by 2010, France would have the best league in the world. That this would "change" the Ligue 1. Now in 2016, Portugal has a higher ranking

The traditionally successful Ligue 1 sides like OM and OL need some sugar daddies.

Hopefully les Bleus can take care of business at home and inspire a new generation of french talent,Ligue 1 could be Bundesliga level if they had a lot of their top talent playing at home

I mean someone just said it was terrible, if the French league isn't competitive then we need to ratify our definition of the word to exclusively mean England, Spain and Germany.

I missed that ,I would call it terrible but in its current state it's not in the best shape.

I'd say Jve gets their props on here but I agree that it's gotten underrated due to Juve's recent dominance. Both Milan clubs falling off also hasn't helped with Serie A's popular but there are other good sides now like Napoli and Roma. They've kind of been in the same boat as Ligue 1 lately with traditionally strong sides falling off and having a world beating squad rise up and dominate .

With all that said,it's foolish to think that the other leagues are filled with scrubs when the top leagues stay spending boatloads of cash on their players

Well yea, they're not "trash" but the Italian League was one of the best leagues for a long time, at least they have excuse for the drop off (oil billionaires, teams going bankrupt, less money)

France, whoever is and has been running Ligue 1 for the past 30 years has failed miserably, as long as they continue to be a "good" league, PSG will never be a "great" team. They need more competition, they need their own Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to battle with.

That first goal was lack of communication in that back line, everybody just stopped and watched the ball go by. We really at the point where anything that's not a top 3 league is considered **** huh.

The majority of leagues in Europe are competitive as hell. If someone says otherwise, they have never played the sport. Most of these dudes in here think that the top 3 is the pinnacle. Funny thing is most would never even make it in the top flight in Denmark or Czech Republic. I personally know a guy my age who went on trial at OG Nice last summer and dude just barely made it. And the guy is good as hell.
