#3 pick- Trade for Okafor
#16 pick- Denzel Valentine
#23 pick- Cheick Diallo
#31 pick- Thon Maker
#35 pick- Ben Bentil

Next summer is when the Celts can really make a splash. Great FA class and what should be a top 3 Nets pick in a great draft.

This makes me think twice for trading Jah to Boston. If only he played defence and rebounds...he could have been an elite player.

It's never too late to learn team defence...but do rebounding numbers improve over a player's career? Or is it something that remains consistent? I can't recall any player "adding" rebounding to their games or dramatically improving them.

Yeah I mean I just don't see how people look at dude like he's a finished product and won't improve at all. Sure, he may not have the natural defensive instincts and may never be one of the best rebounders in the league. I don't think it's farfetched though to think that he can get better at both though. Also, he's probably already one of the best low post scorers in the league as a 20 year old.....Nobody that can be drafted with the 3rd pick is going to have an impact even close to what Okafor can bring to the table. I think he's probably just as good of a prospect if not better than Ingram too.

It just seems so crazy to me that people would rather take a risk on drafting someone like Bender, if the Okafor trade is actually available.

Interesting trade idea tossed around Reddit...

#16
#23
Olynyk
Bradley or Smart

for

K Love

I'd do it. Cleveland would too.

Also pass on Love. Would be a good reg season player, but then cave in the playoffs per usual. Much better options out there. I doubt Isaiah would even want to play alongside Love given the potential of legit superstars we could acquire.

Love >>>> IT. Also, he's been pretty healthy for the last 3 years. Not quite sure I'd be willing to give him the injury-prone tag.

I think a lot of you guys are forgetting what he's capable of, if a team actually uses him the right way and lets him play to his strengths. He would be far and away our best player, and in this trade, we really wouldn't be giving away THAT much for him.

Who else do you guys realistically want though??

I mean I would take Love if he's the only star on the table, it would just be hard to see Bradley AND Smart dealt. A huge part of our identity is our defensive depth in the back court.

What do you think we should do with the #3?

I just don't think you can go far with Love as your best player. He just doesn't play winning basketball. He put up ridiculous stats in MIN but what does he have to show for it? 0 playoff appearances. He could be a good 2nd option. I misread and thiught you wanted to give up both smart and Bradley. But it's one or the other, I'd do the deal contingent on the fact that we acquire KD.

Trade is Bradley OR Smart. No chance Boston would trade both.

If we could move Bradley or Smart for a big man, I'd be fine with Dunn or Murray at 3. If we can't do that, I'd rather just trade the pick for a big of some sort.

The team surrounding him in Minnesota was absolutely awful. Can't really expect him to do much with that team in what was a loaded Western Conference a few years ago. I agree that I think you ideally want him as your second option. However, our team just doesn't have much talent right now, and if we could add a guy that would instantly be our best player without having to give up a ton, I think it would be a no-brainer.

Praying for a trade of Young, Hunter and Bradley for a big. I dont mind giving up picks either. Then draft the most NBA ready player at the 1 in years, Dunn, at 3

You're a Providence stan Quail. I do think Dunn is going to be a good player though.

2 points, 3 rebounds in a must win... I'll pass on K. Love. Dude will not bring us far. Rather keep Bradley/Smart and those picks and save those assets in case Butler/Cousins become available

So you wouldn't give up just a bit to get Love, but you'd rather give away the farm for Boogie? Love's numbers from his last season in Minnesota (25 years old) are pretty much identical to Cousins' numbers from this year, with Cousins being 25. Except Love is a better shooter....Love is a completely different player if he's used correctly.

If you don't think you'll go far with Love, what makes you think that you'd go far with Boogie who is a complete head case?

Regardless, this is a building process. Not everything is going to happen right away, unless KD decides to come here for some reason. If you can get Love without having to give up any of the future assets, I don't see how you don't do it. Our #3 pick this year is garbage.

Kevin Love is David Lee with 3-point range. He'll put up nice stats, but will totally ruin your team defense.

But you guys want to give up a king's ransom for Boogie who might be even worse defensively and is a headcase?

Our team needs more talent, and if we can get a player of Love's caliber without having to give up a ton, we should do it. It's not like his defense would be any worse than guys like Sullinger and Olynyk, who were playing major minutes for us...

I'm not in the "Trade for Boogie" camp either. That guy is bi-polar, and until he starts taking meds and seeing a shrink, I will pass. He's left too long of a trail of teammates and coaches who don't like him.

As for Love - again, I don't care if we only traded Amir Johnson, #16 and #23 - he is David Lee 2.0. He's not conducive to winning basketball. Plus there's a rumor going around that his knees are shot. Helps explain why Steph Curry can sky over him for rebounds now.

As for Sullinger and Olynyk's defense - they're actually pretty decent. Sullinger actually has a better Defensive Rating than Love, despite being a fat bastard.

So what if we were able to put together a pairing of Love and Whiteside. Would that interest you?

I just think we put a lot of emphasis on Love's defense being poor because we are mostly paying attention to his games against GSW, which is legitimately the toughest matchup for him in the NBA. Nobody else can really put out lineups like that which would cause Love to REALLY struggle. I think he can at least attempt to hold his own against most other teams. Especially in the East.

With regards to the Lee comparison, I get it. However, Love's ability to shoot the 3 like he can makes him significantly better than Lee.

Whiteside is another guy who's overrated because of his stats. The team defense falls apart because he's out of position, chasing blocked shots. The Heat play better defense when he's on the bench. With that being said, I like Whiteside, but if it's going to cost over $20 million/year for him, I'd be a bit hesitant.

As for Love - he's got 4 years left and over $90 million on his contract, and he's apparently got bad knees. If we want to get a white PF to shoot 3s, let's just go out and get Ryan Anderson. He's the same age as Love, not as good of a rebounder but is a better defender, putting up the same numbers offensively, and he won't cost the Celtics any assets in a trade, nor will he take up almost 25% of their cap space.

I'd be very happy with Ryan Anderson. Pretty much exactly what we need. He's going to cost a pretty penny too though. I wouldn't be quick to say they are putting up same numbers offensively though. That is only because Cleveland is completely using Love wrong. If you put him on our team, he's averaging 24 and 12. Anderson can't do that. Knee issues would certainly worry me though.

So Love averaged 4.5 points in two must win games. CLE didn't need him anyways. Lol. Honestly I rather go after Tristan Thompson. He contributes to winning basketball.

Golden State is the worst possible matchup in the NBA for Love. Especially when they have LeBron on the court at the same time playing Love's position. I think it's a bit unfair to judge him solely off his series against GSW. Love averaged 19 and 13 as the Cavs third option against the Atlanta team that absolutely obliterated us. You don't think we could use that kind of output?
