Yeah, i've seen a few people talk about how some models would sit and eventually go on sale. I remember in middle school (15-16 years ago) that kids would still be able to get pairs after release day.

There were never "set" release dates. The shoes would just appear, periodically. Eventually, they would began releasing during the week. Weekend (Saturday) release dates did not start, until the early 2000s.
