Yet there has long been belief in Chinese hoop circles that release of one NBA'er like K-Mart POTENTIALLY opens door for return of others

Even if Xinjiang goes through with release K-Mart WON'T be able to sign w/NBA team unless he gets FIBA letter of clearance from Chinese team

Sources say only threat of severe punishments from Chinese league, including possible forfeitures, has prevented K-Mart's release to date

I hope Baron works out, it's literally impossible for me to not root for the Knicks now. I love Tyson. I love Baron. I think Melo is one of the best scorers in the L. I've always like Amare.

I hope Baron can make them gel, but more importantly, that he can stay on the court.

What he gonna do? It was only a rumor and any reports from the Cavs medical staff can be dismissed by the Knicks medical staff via miraculous healing in the two weeks before he signed to NY.

Anything Baron or his agent said about his back could still be true. There's been talk of him having this same injury for the past 5 years. No harm in talking it up while on the waiver wire.

K-Mart has been a major disappointment in the CBA.  He doesn't produce anything offensively and hasn't even brought the expected defensive presence.  He's also been hurt a lot.  I wouldn't be surprised if the team WANTS to release him, especially considering that he is the highest-paid player in the league.  They could get better production from someone else at a third of the cost.

So, despite what ESPN will want to sell you, don't buy that K-Mart would be escaping.  If he is released I would be almost certain it's something the team wanted, whereas JR and Wilson certainly wouldn't be on the chopping block.

After reading the complete True Hoop piece on the matter it seems that ESPN has kind of come around to my point of view.

Looks like Xinjiang wants to waive Kenyon, but the league wants to keep him there.  No matter what happens with K-Mart I doubt that we see JR/Chandler/Brooks in the USA until March or April.  They are all playing great and don't seem all that unhappy.  JR was all amped up today while he was scoring 38 points.

Griz fear Arthur lost for the season

Grizzlies forward Darrell Arthur left practice this morning with a serious Achilles injury and the fear is that he might be lost for the entire 2011-12 season, according to sources with knowledge of situation.

An early diagnosis by the team's medical staff indicated that Arthur might have suffered a torn left Achilles. The 6-9 reserve had just returned to practice after missing time with a sore right Achilles.

The Griz were already thin at the power forward and center positions.

This is the second time a serious injury will curtail Arthur's career. He missed four months during the 2009-10 season because of surgery to repair a partially torn right pectoralis muscle.

Arthur is entering his fourth NBA season. He emerged last year as a solid backup to Zach Randolph at power forward with his mid-range shooting and rebounding.

The most underrated player on the Grizzlies.

Would be a huge blow to a thin frontline after Gasol and Randolph.

So is Kris Humphries but it seems he's got the plague the way I haven't heard teams being interested in what he provides. For what he does, you'd think more teams would want him but may they think he overachieved on a *@#%%# team.

It is't saying much for Humphries basketball future when his hometown hockey organization wants him on their payroll. Might as well leech back onto the Kardashians if he can.

Odom, VC, and Haywood all look fantastic.

Russell Westbrook still can't keep the ball from being turned over.

Delonte looks pretty bad though.

Westbrook has 46 turnovers in the first 6 minutes. VC has gotten away with as many travelling violations. And "it" starts, showing Khloe Kardashian every other second when she is on the bench. I don't get why we are still starting Thabo. Hate the new stripe and color splat thing Adidas has done with the warmups. Nick doing what he does, I actually think that should have been an And 1
