JA, I can't speak for Knick fans, but if they think that Melo and Stat can do anything, they are off their meds.  NBA players can not re-do current deals.  Can not, can't, will not happen, not allowed, wrong sport, etc etc.

Amnesty Haywood, we sit at 32.9 million.

Salary dump Marion, sit at 24.3 million.

Dirk would also restructure his deal if it meant bringing in Dwight and Deron, I'd think.
25+ in cap space?

Gilbert is all that squad has Big J.  He has to defend him.  Even though the rest of the league and world laugh at dude, he's gonna ride til the bitter end........then when Gilbert is gone, he'll bash Gilbert til the day he dies.  It's what they do out there.

The Lakers? They never had a black alternate game-jersey, just the white alternates because black is not a part of their team colors whatsoever.
I think alternate jerseys are allowed to be worn up to 15 games a season, if they want to wear them at home the team needs to petition/apply for it thru the league.

Missed it?  You still here on earth or you part of the space program?

The following is an email from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert to NBA commissiner David Stern. It was obtained by a number of news outlets.
Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn't appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don't see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise...

Dan G.

Assuming the salary cap jumps to ~60 million next year..

At least 27. We get rid of Marion, 35 million in space.

You know, it's really annoying to see you BOLD everything related to the SPURS, and where your HEART lies.

Type like a grown up.

Your team, your players suck so who gives a @#$%I don't give a @#$% what you're talkin about crying, nobody cries when they leave the Spurs, but players do get upset when they leave the Lakers. Get over it. LO beat your team down in LA, he gonna do it in Dallas too, tears be damned.

Not allowed.  Unless Dirk moves to football.

What is this BS that Amary and Carmelo would restructure their deals to try and sign CP3 then?

Knicks fans were saying that something new in the CBA that allows them to do that, I thought.

Then again, we are talking about Knicks fans.

I don't know if it was Odom's true destination, but in his presser today, he said he told LA he wanted to come to Dallas, and I guess they accommodated him.

Jamal Crawford update;

Turned down the Pacers' 2 year-$10 million offer.
Knicks are offering one year-$2.5 million for him.  I'm sure he'd love to return to New York but there's not enough financial security compared to the rest of his offers.
Blazers reportedly have a 2 year-$10 million offer for him. Would round out the Blazers' guard rotation of Felton, Matthews and himself. He's also Pacific NW guy if that means anything.
Kings are also in the mix. Kings can offer the most since they're under the minimum salary level but they already have Evans, Thornton, Jimmer and Salmons on the roster.

A new "renegotiation and extension" provision allows an existing contract to be renegotiated so the player is paid a smaller amount over a longer period, but the player's salary cannot decrease by more than 40 percent. Renegotiations previously could only increase a player's salary.

That's the new provision people were referring to.

^ Whoa, where the hell is that from? I was just reading TWO days ago that type stuff can't happen? Can you link me to that article?

Not speaking as a Knicks fan, go to Portland. Good money, get playing time, and like you said, from that region.
