in my opinion, the only money you should have sitting in a savings account is an emergency fund (3- to 6-months worth) and a small amount for your general monthly living expenses.
dump everything else into investments... 401k, Roth IRA, stocks, pay down/off your credit cards, car payments, and...
growing up in the '80s, i can't name a single gay tv character in any show that i watched. not saying there weren't any, i just didn't know it at the time.
and guess what?
I STILL TURNED OUT GAY
there's a cruel irony unfolding here too, in that gay men are banned from donating blood.
i can't imagine how helpless that community must feel right now.
yeah, PMI sucks but i was eager to get into a house instead of waiting to save up 20%. that was back in '07. refinanced once in 2012.
now i just pay several hundred a month extra towards principal, trying to get under the 80% LTV ratio so i can get rid of PMI (which is only about $100/mo in...
i made a coming out thread on here 4 years ago haha. it was fairly well received, as was the more recent thread about the legalization of gay marriage (which i didn't start but commented on frequently).
negative stuff doesn't bother me anymore. i just try to introduce a perspective that's...

i think it's a combination of a lot of things.
in this country, pop culture reigns supreme... so i think having openly gay stars and characters just being themselves on tv was huge. ellen, will and grace, the real world, modern family, etc... even most soap operas and dramas eventually had at...

the only ones i wear are from american eagle. they don't go past the knee and aren't that bulky. some of the examples in this thread are overly extreme... but are these really that bad??
cargos seem to have fallen out of favor quickly (like that's what most guys wore even 5 years ago).
i still wear 'em. especially if i'm wearing jordans or high tops... i feel like the shorter shorts look weird with them.
