The tassels are ugly and unnecessary. Other than that, it doesn't look bad. Suede comes off as casual to me, so I would opt for something a little less sleek - this is just my personal preference.
What black leather shoes do you have now? Again, this is just my opinion, but you could always just wear a regular pair of nice oxfords and get a nice polish. Example:
This is just my opinion, but the formal wear/tux calls for socks if you wear the slippers. If you are going to wear patent laced shoes, I think an oxford with closed lacing looks better than the derby's you posted.
IMO, the best litmus test to see if something is trendy (even if it is a classic style) see if fast fashion brands (H&M, Zara, F21, etc) are currently stocking them. Shearling jackets have been around forever, higher end designers (like the Louis Vuitton pic) have carried them for a long time...
Yeah it was a bit of a joke. I don't think anyone could pull off the full black watch other than AcuteStyle. I do enjoy his audacity when it comes to his fits but I know I couldn't pull off the stuff he does. I wouldn't recommend full blackwatch but I do think it looks nice in separates.
My issue with J Crew is that they try to come off as a premium brand but they are just a one off from Gap/Banana Republic/any other mall brand. I know you can get the items at a discounted price, which is the only way I'd buy anything from J Crew.
My point is J Crew has a classic american...
Well I have things from H&M and J Crew that have worn away quick and some that have held up. The difference to me is that J Crew charges a lot more than I think the clothes are worth.
