xbox live - do you need to buy the XBOX wireless adapter for it to work?

want to get a live account, got a router..but need an adapter ..do we have to get the XBOX one that runs for 100 dollars? or do other compatible routers work, and if so, is it as connective as the official xbox one? if it doesn't work as well, id rather pay the extra amoutn to get the xbox one so it stays connected and gives me no hassles

Not sure, but you can run a ethernet wire. I run a 50 ft cable.

If you have a laptop you can use that as an adapter for free but I recommend just getting the official xbox adapter. You get a much better connection.

Yeah, just plug an Ethernet cord into the router.

However much an Ethernet cord costs <<<<<< price of adapter.

You can plug right into your router with a phone cord or whatever. The wireless router is just that. But if you already got your box by your PC like me, you can just go wired. Don't get G'd out of another hunnid dollars if you don't have to.

I have mine connected right to my modem/apple time capsule. Much easier and I have less connection issues.

If you have a router you DO NOT need to buy the network adapter. If the router is in the same room as the xbox just run the ethernet cable from the router and plug it in to the back of the xbox (it looks bigger than a phone jack, if you didn't know). It is the BEST connection you can have and is much more reliable than wireless or bridging.

Im cheap, I had 100 foot ethernet cord in the crib. I routed it from my living room to my bedroom because I refused to spend extra $ to get a wireless router and then spend extra $ to get that wireless add-on. Plus it's more reliable
