Last night we officially began down The Road to WrestleMania with the Royal Rumble PPV. It was one of the most newsworthy WWE PPV's in a while. Not only did John Cena win the Royal Rumble in a match where Chris Jericho returned, but CM Punk's 434 day run as WWE Champion came to an end when after he initially defeated The Rock, Vince McMahon was going to strip Punk of the title due to The Shield interfering (or so we think). But The Rock demanded the match be restarted, and he went on to beat Punk clean with The People's Elbow to become the WWE Champion for the first time in 10 years.
Antonio Cesaro d the miz to Retain the United States Title
Alberto Del Rio (The Mexican Bret Hart) d The Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match to Retain the World Heavyweight Title
Team Hell No d The Rhodes Scholars to Retain the WWE Tag Team Titles
John Cena, Entrant #19, Won the Royal Rumble by Eliminating Ryback
The Rock d CM Punk to Become the New WWE Champion
Tonight on Raw, we will obviously have all of the fallout from The Royal Rumble. The Elimination Chamber PPV is in 20 days, and WrestleMania is in 69 days. We are expected to get a Rock vs Punk rematch at Elimination Chamber, so we'll see if Cena makes any type of announcement on who he is facing at Mania.
Vince McMahon is giving Paul Heyman a performance review tonight. It seems like the perfect time for Brock Lesnar to return. He can lay out Vince. HHH can make the save. And there you have your match for WrestleMania.
There are also a lot of rumors that The Undertaker will return tonight. Since he is rumored to be facing Punk, I'm not sure if he will since Punk still has the expected match with Rock at Elimination Chamber.
Chris Jericho was the surprise of the night last night. He still has an upcoming tour in Australia, so the thought is he won't be back on TV just yet. When he does return, he will feud with Ryback with the two having a match at WrestleMania.
