I am heading out to NYC right now. Here is my brief preview for WrestleMania 29. I hope everyone enjoys the show!
Wade Barrett (c) v miz - Intercontinental Championship Pre-Show YouTube Match
Barrett has done nothing recently. I expect miz to win the belt to be a "big" way to kick off the show.
Prediction: miz - New Intercontinental Champion
Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls vs The Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins
The heels have more upside and should go over.
Prediction: The Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins
Chris Jericho vs Fandango
Fandango has become the NTWT darling (not mine). He's making his debut and should get the win here.
Prediction: Fandango
Team Hell No (c) vs Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston w/ AJ Lee - WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Team Hell No has done nothing with the titles in months. The heels should get the titles, and hopefully somehow AJ gets injured.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston - New WWE Tag Team Champions
Ryback vs Mark Henry
Proof that a simple storyline still works to build a match. I would like Mark Henry to go over because WWE needs top heels, but Ryback will probably get the win.
Prediction: Ryback
Randy Orton, Sheamus, The Big Show vs The Shield
The Shield should go over to keep their momentum. I'm predicting a short match with both Orton and Big Show turning on Sheamus. Not joining The Shield, just turning heel.
Prediction: The Shield
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs Jack Swagger - World Heavyweight Championship Match
Neither man is over like they should be, but WWE seems determined to get Del Rio over, so he retains.
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio - Retains World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H with Shawn Michaels in His Corner vs Brock Lesnar - No Holds Barred with Triple H's Career on the Line
Everyone assumes Hunter is getting his revenge on Brock here, but I just have a strange feeling that Brock gets the win. Will Shawn cost Triple H the match? We'll see.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar
The Undertaker vs CM Punk
Punk has promised to do anything he has to do to win, even if it's via DQ or count out. Will Undertaker continue the Streak moving to 21-0? I have a strange feeling that Paul Bearer may come from beyond the grave to help Taker get the win.
Prediction: The Undertaker
The Rock (c) vs John Cena - WWE Championship Match
The match that is twice in a lifetime. This is the conclusion of a two year long storyline. Will John Cena finally prove himself to be better than The Rock? Or will The Rock once again cause John Cena's life to go into a tailspin? Despite the wishes of the live WrestleMania crowd, I think John Cena is walking out of MetLife Stadium as the new WWE Champion.
Prediction: John Cena - New WWE Champion

Vince McMahon Reveals the WrestleMania 29 Set in MetLife Stadium
Monday, April 1
Tonight kicks off the biggest week of the year in pro wrestling. We're 6 days out from WrestleMania 29, and before the PPV itself, there are a ton of other events this week. The WWE Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden with Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Trish Stratus, Bob Backlund, Booker T, and Donald Trump being inducted Saturday night. There's also of course the WWE Fan Axxess going on all weekend long. In addition to WWE, just about every other US (and some international) promotions are putting on shows in the NY/NJ area. TNA, ROH, Dragongate, Evolve, CZW, Chikara, Shimmer, Kaiju Big Battel, 5 Dollar Wrestling, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others. Plus there are all kinds of meet and greets with a lot of the information at http://www.legendsofthering.com/.
I will try to run different "events" in the thread each day this week leading up to WrestleMania. Of course, I'm leaving for New York on Saturday, so that will be my last major update. But I'll make sure my official WrestleMania preview is posted early, and everyone's favorite PPV Prediction Contest is also up with plenty of time to complete it.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO ANY PORTION OF WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND, PLEASE FILL OUT OF THE NTWT WRESTLEMANIA MEMBER INFO THREAD. Specifically some type of contact information. I would love to try and have mini summits throughout the weekend where a lof of us can meet up.
Tonight's Raw is really the final show before WrestleMania, as the Smackdown prior to Mania is always just a clip show with a few segments from Axxess thrown in. It is all hands on deck tonight for Raw. Most notably what that means is Brock Lesnar and The Rock will be on the same show for the first time since the Raw after WrestleMania last year. WWE has purposely kept these two as separated as possible because they did not want fans dreaming up a match between the two of them for this year's WrestleMania. However, I've read reports that there will be a very brief, passing confrontation between the two next week on Raw just to tease their match at WrestleMania XXX.
What we can count on tonight...
- The WWE is terrified of injuries this close to Mania, so expect very little physical action from any of the top stars tonight.
- The main event of WrestleMania 29 is The Rock vs John Cena, so those two will also close the show tonight. The Rock laid Cena out with a Rock Bottom last week to close Raw. We'll see if Cena gets revenge tonight.
- There were reports that Stephanie McMahon would be in HHH's corner at WrestleMania to counter Paul Heyman in Brock's corner. There has been zero indication of Stephanie thus far, but that could change tonight.
- Speaking of Heyman, since Brock is on tonight's show, that likely means Punk is flying solo. Of the top three matches, I think Punk vs The Undertaker has by far the worst build, so hopefully they do something big tonight to get some heat on this match.
- In The Shield vs Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show match, it really feels like there is going to be a heel turn. My gut is that BOTH Randy Orton and The Big Show will turn on Sheamus. WWE is desperately lacking top heels right now, so this makes sense to me. Plus, after they lay Sheamus out, The Shield can triple powerbomb him and get their WrestleMania win to continue their momentum.
- Jack Swagger and Zeb Coulture have seemingly dropped the anti-immigration gimmick. Now they just don't like Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez. And neither do most fans it seems.
- Team Hell No vs Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston. They were teasing dissension between Bryan and Kane last week again. I hope this doesn't bring back Dr. Shelby.
- Chris Jericho vs Fandango. It seems a lot of people are digging the Fandango gimmick. I am not one of them. And after listening to Jericho's interview on Observer Radio last week, he's not exactly thrilled about having come back to be working with Fandango either.
- Mark Henry vs Ryback. Henry squashed the 225lb bar on Ryback's neck during their bench press challenge on Smackdown last week. Reports as the houseshows say this match sucks.
- Wade Barrett v miz. No one cares.
- Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins vs Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls. Probably a preshow match.
