What would you do in a situation like this?

I've been talking about this to my friends, just want to hear what Nters would do, doesn't matter if you're a guy or one of the 5 girls on NT.

You're single. You're at a coffee house doing hw or studying, a chick or a dude (person of opposite sex) is studying at the table next to you. Youstrike a convo with one another for 5-10 mins. Person says I gotta leave and ask for your phone number to hang out sometime. Obviously if you're feelingthe person, you wouldn't hesistate. BUT say if you're not really liking the person too much....would you 1. tell the person that it's not a goodidea because you're in a relationship even though you're single, 2. give a fake phone number, 3. give a real phone number and avoid the call if/whenthey call, 4. straight up say it's not a good idea because I don't really like you like that, or 5. give out a real phone number and give the person achance to see if any interest can build up.

Personally I wouldn't know what to do.

Edit: I don't think there will be any more replies so here's what the outcome of the replies I got on NT and another board. 43 replies total, and Ibelieve 2-3 are from females. Thanks for those who participated.

Hey man, I gets busy with the iPod on at Starbucks, Coffee Bean, or the local boba place. I can not study at home if my life depends on it, SMH. I know what you mean though. Everyone that brings their laptop ends up going on Myspace and such.

Why don't you just to go to the library at your campus I'm sure Northridge(?) has a nice quiet library with wifi or something. My JC(PCC)has a sbux across the street, and they allow drinks inside the library so IMO it works well if you have to drink coffee while studying(

I'd get the number and name, then facebook her. If she has hot friends, there's potential for some good to come of it. I'd invite her somewherethat she's sure to bring people with her. If she doesn't have hot friends, just tell her you ended up getting back with your ex afterward, andthat's it.

I'd say I'm really stingy with my number... but we can hang out some more if she likes.

I really don't see very many situations where lying helps, so #1 and #2 are eliminated because they're lies.

#3 just seems like too much work, and they can still call from a friends phone or something if they catch on to your avoidance. Then it's drama when youanswer, because now they know you were just avoiding them.

#4 is just mean.

I don't use my laptop when I'm doing work. They don't allow anything in besides water. And the library is too quiet for me. I'malways at the Coffee Bean or Boba City when I'm in the area. When I get hungry, I'll walk to Catch 22 or Subway, and my friends stop by too if theyspot my car parked in the lot, lol. Hell I don't even drink coffee...I only get hot chocolate or mocha frap, lol.
