What if Capital hadn't pulled on the deal? vol. kanye

I dont believe he woulld be what he is today, but he's talented and would hav3e found a way.

good music is still good music.

What if Drake was signed by Sylvia Rhone?

What if Jay-Z got signed by the first label he approached?

What if Biggie left Puffy?

nope...without that rocafella endorsement nobody takes him seriously...
whoa whoa...wait... without rocafella he still had his beats lol.... people wouldnt have taken that serious?

Maybe not as a rapper, but someone with Kanye's determination and talent would have been on the radar, just not to this degree...but who can even say that?

This the same guy that produced Heart of the City, Takeover, This Can't Be Life, and his entire first 2 cd's, minus Touch the Sky... he would have at least sold all those beats and been the best producer in the game, and eventually would be rapping....especially in today's game where he aint even trying lyrically and still better than the majority based off flow/presense

Then again, i dont know the history behind the Capital deal, besides the fact he didnt sign with them....was the deal that bad for you to say nobody was taking him serious?

He'd still end up being a big name producer. Then maybe when he was older he gets that shot as a rapper. Probably would've resulted in a better debut album imo but I dunno if he reaches the same fame.

The real question is what Jay never walked in?

Definitely not to me but my point there is more time not getting that shot to be a rapper would've gave him more time to hone his skills and improve thus resulting in a better debut product.

I'm not saying he would've made a better College Dropout. I'm saying it'd probably be named something else with different songs for the most part, better beats + better lyrics.

yeah i feel he woulda been a whole lot more like kweli and not tried to get mainstream. wouldnt have been a trend setter as he is now, but still would have had a decent first album. hell most of his first album was already done, when he was waiting to sign with Capital.

backstory on the capital deal 8o

What would Roc-A-Fell Records have been without Kanye West? Before Air Yeezy got his Roc chain and started throwing up that Dynasty sign he almost signed a deal with Capitol Records. While looking for a label West met with Capitol several times according to Capitol Record’s A&R Joe “3H” Weinberger.

However, another person in the company told Capitol’s president, “He’s just a producer/rapper, He’ll never sell.” I guess you can say Kanye got hated on. Kanye West spoke about this on his album College Dropout on the track “Last Call.” Take a listen below.

he still woulda had money but not really have been the icon that he is now...he was making beats for nas, royce shyne damn near everyone love that knocturnal song muzik..

I saw on VH1 that he was braggin' about being better than Jermaine Dupri to the wrong person....JD's Father Michael Mauldin, thus being one of reasons why he didnt end up with Capitol.

Nonetheless, shame on them.

Jay-z is one of kanYe's biggest inspirations, if he wasn't signed by him, who knows where KanYe would be.

He might've stayed in the G.O.O.D. music era ala John Legend/Common. (which is very dope as well!)

His growth as an artist is pretty crazy, and you don't become who you are on your own.

You become the average of the 5 people you spend time with the most.

You can't tell me j**** man didn't have a positive influence on 'ye, vice versa.

man if Jay didn't have KanYe, who's to say where his career would be right now.

They're relationship positively effects each others lives.
