this dude got SOOO much hype and he has never lived up to it.

he's not TERRIBLE.. he usually does decently in tournaments and he did well in the junior World Cups and all. but his career thus far has been adisappointment. why isn't he at least on the US roster?

Jozy Altidore (19) >>>>>>>>> Freddy Adu (20).

I thought I saw him on the bench last night at the game...I could be wrong tho...

I remember the hype surrounding this "kid" when he was signed to DC United.....grown *%% man dominating against 14 year-olds, but pans out when heplays against better comp....

hes on the roster, he was on the bench the whole game yesterday
im pulling for him though. I feel like he hasnt gotten a shot yet and the hype just makes it worse

dude was on the sidelines with a parka & skully yesterday. my lone soccer friend told me his defense is lacking...?

he was actually 27 when they said he was 14...so now he's like 44 and just too old

My sister used to date this guy from Sierra-Lione who played on a team with Freddy in Africa. Dude said Freddy is 2 years older than he says he is and theyalways used to joke about it

He has been stellar for the younger American teams but has trouble finding time for the Mens National Team.

He went overseas to Portugal to play for Benfica and I remember him scoring and getting assists early in his tenure there.

He was loaned to AS Monaco in France where he was pretty much a sub and it looks like he will return to Benfica.

In the U-20 World cup, Adu scored a hat-trick against Poland and assisted on Both Jozy Altidore goals when they beat Brazil 2-1.

I would like to see more Adu with Altidore on the USMNT but RoboBob is a crap coach.

He needs to get on a club where he can play regularly, I don't care if it's MLS, he needs the time. Wasting away on the sidelines with Benfica andMonaco isn't helping him. I'm pulling for the kid.

He plays zero to no D. And he doesn't dribble the ball as well as he was hyped up to. He is not your typical foward because he lacks the height. Sohe's stuck as a mid-fielder. They said that Bradly likes his mids to play D, which he doesn't. He's another bust the way I look at it. Dude has toput in work and prove the doubters like myself wrong. Otherwise he's just another overhyped teenage athlete that never pans out.

Do you want Bruce back? at least Bradley got us to a final.

i remember all the nato kids in portugal hyping him up when he came to benfica...few games into his career outside of the us and he wasnt talked about again

.

its sad cause he gave a lot of kids hope. Yet, hes just another example of why players shouldnt play professionally until they are FULLY prepared (this goesfor both football and basketball to me).

it's quite the opposite if he had gone overseas he would've gotten better training and developed alot faster, his biggest mistake was going to the MLS....... and as predicted is starting to show now

Word to Donovan

Donovan overhyped? Youknow nothing about the USMNT if you think Donovan is overhyped. He is easily the most important player to the team. Please tell me you were joking
