NT I need help knowing what to expect when dealing with this issue I'm having with USPS right now. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I'm getting worried. Cliffs of what happened below:

-Sold a pair of shoes on eBay June 11th.
-Shipped shoes double-boxed USPS Priority Mail 2-Day on June 15th.
-Buyer contacts me on June 27th saying, "Why is it that the tracking number you gave is not updating in the USPS Tracking website? Please inform me if there is a problem encountered during transit."
-I track the package myself and get this: View media item 1053532-I call USPS this past Friday and ask them where my package is. They say they have a picture of it in the Capitol Heights, MD facility and it is probably stuck in a machine there or something. They open an investigation and gave me a case # to follw up on.
-I call back today asking about this citing my case # and they tell me nothing was down over the weekend and I should get a call today.

Has this ever happened to anyone else before? Likeliness of my package turning up? What to do if it doesn't? I just want to be prepared since this has never happened to me before. The sale was for a little over $200 and it looks like I only have insurance for $50.

Basically if they can't find the package then you're out of luck. You'll get the insurance money and if you still have the receipt for the shipment then you can get your money back or if you paid online ask to get your money back. Had a package get lost a while back, was never found and I was out 300. It happens I just insure all my packages for full value now when shipping with usps. Sucks this happened

night night, keep yo butthole tight :lol

But SRSLY, hope you got insurance or you may be SOL

Good luck bro, USPS is the worst.

Happened to me once, the buyer got the item but the system never updated. If the buyer's a scumbag, they'll file a claim with paypal to get his money back.

Tyrone is knee deep stroking some skins right now wearing nothing but his USPS Uniform Polo and your Lebrons.

USPS is terrible. last month i sold a pair of kicks to a NTer, tracking updated until it was out for delivery, it got delivered and never updated. check it a few days ago and still nothing. Thank god the NTer wasnt a scum bag, he told me he got em.

thinn is i got signature confirmation too.. :x

stil worried because people will do anything for cash and can file a chargeback and say he never got it and im screwed :{ :{ :{

Had a package get lost for about a week, eventually it turned up. It was for $300 so I would've been salty.

For expensive items I always put insurance on it.

usps is the worst i had a FEW packages that never update until they are down the damn street from me ... im basically done lending them my money

More than likely the USPS worker stole your shoes, fam. That's the worst case scenario though

If you paid for signature confirmation and USPS don't upload the confirmation, talk to customer service about it. That's straight garbage man that you paid for something and didn't have it done by USPS.

Should I ask the buyer to go to the local USPS facility and see if the package is waiting there? I did do signature confirmation so maybe he wasn't home to sign for it and the notice blew away or something. I found a "We missed you" note for a package somewhere in my front lawn last week. No where close to the door :{

I've had this happen to me, so basically I have ALL my USPS packages held at the post office now. Don't trust the delivery people to actually leave it on the doorstep. SMH

It wasn't lost. It was stolen. Just be glad you had the package insured.

Now that I think about it I did recycle a NDC box to double box the shoes. But this was a pair of New Balance that were a little too big for me. The DMV loves NB so some worker probably did steal the shoes. I didn't pay for insurance. It's automatically insured for $50 I guess but that's it.

Son, you're in silver spring. Take the metro over cap heights and press them in person. I've dealt with usps before, they tend to blow off phone calls, but if you go there face to face it makes a difference, especially of you don't look like a chump.

I ******* hate USPS.

I ordered a pair of tickets for a concert once, and they showed up 2 months after the concert...:|

Fortunately, the seller refunded my money. None of the employees at USPS could explain what happened or really did anything about it.

Sucks stuff like this happens. I would do like you mentioned and tell the recipient to go to their USPS (or you go) and see if they may have it. I have been in the same situation once, parents shipped me something and tracking was messed up went to the USPS to see if they had it in the back person said no (even though I was almost sure they did), went back an hour later and talked to a different person and the package was there.

Is the sort facility the same as the post office though? I tried to find an address for the sort facility and I couldn't. All I get is the post office.

Capitol Heights Post Office
6089 Central Ave, Capitol Heights, MD 20743

^That the right address? I should get a phone call from them today or tomorrow about this but if I don't I would rather talk to them in person instead of call and talk to people who don't know any more than I do again. This is so frustrating. Finally have an eBay sale where the winner pays immediately, responds to my emails, everything going smoothly and then this happens :{

Probably. Most of my packages end up at Cap Heights for sorting before it goes in the air. Then again some places sorting facilities are at airports for convenience. If they don't tell you anything on the next call back, get them to clarify on the sorting facility location.

Their customer service is horrible. I had this happen with some foams I sold on her a few months ago. Shipped them out and after 4 days the only info on the tracking number was the first Scan they did at the PO I dropped it off at. I called and called, went in to that post office spoke to everyone. All they say is "it could still turn up".

Finally showed up on the scan in the city it was going to 3 weeks later! The buyer was actually mad cool and kept in touch. Didn't jump on filing for a refund and all was good.

I contacted the post office in person, phone, and email asking for a refund on their "priority" shipping service and they just stand behind the fine print that 2-3 days is not guaranteed but rather just an estimated time frame.

Only reason they get away with this is that no other shipping is gonna be that cheap. Sucks tho.

I work at the Vegas sort facility.

I can tell you right now that your package is a lot less likely to be stolen by USPS employees than by the other companies because you won't only get fired (pretty much the only way the postal service will fire you), you're also facing jail time for tampering with the mail.

The way most of our packages get delayed is if they weren't packaged securely and the box breaks open. At that point it goes to be patched up as last priority. I would always ensure my packages if its more than $75. Scanning isn't always going to be accurate due to the sheer volume of pieces coming in. Usually the missed scan will be off the trailers that we use.

That said. I can't speak for employees in MD. Maybe they're more gutter about stealing over there. Somebody sent cool grey XIs in my size and didn't double box em. Did I touch em. Heck naw. Not worth losing a federal job and going to jail. Your shoes will probably turn up... Hopefully. It might be returned to sender though. Those take awhile also.

So how do packages get "lost" if associates don't steal? Is there another way it doesn't get delivered besides theft or opened packages?
