I have seen how some people on here have been unclear on how to properly use Live (now Bing) CASHBACK. Here is a crude instruction guide forgetting some money back. I will constantly update when necessary.

ACCOUNT SET UP

  1. First thing's first - if you do not already have a Live (from here on out, I will refer to it as Bing b/c of the re-branding) account, you need to set that up here using a valid e-mail address. *Most people may already have this.
  2. Once you have your Bing account set up, you need to log in and set up another account, this one for your cashback, which can be found here.
  3. Verify the 2 accounts and the accuracy of each.

HOW TO SHOP USING CASHBACK

**You may want to begin here for all basic inquiries**

Here is a simpler breakdown of the process:
  1. Assuming you have followed the aforementioned steps, you should be logged in to both accounts. If not, you need to do this now.
  2. Navigate over to the CASHBACK portal on Bing or go directly to the STORES page.
  3. Locate the store that participates in the CASHBACK promo.
  4. Once completed, you will be sent to store's front page. *It is important to remember that you must use this browsing session to successfully complete the CASHBACK process.
  5. When you are ready to make your purchase, DO NOT use a coupon code of any sort!! Some stores may not even give you the option. 99% of the time, using any coupon code will invalidate your CASHBACK reward.
  6. Complete the checkout process with any type of payment that is accepted. *Oftentimes, you will not be notified @ the store that you are eligible for CASHBACK. That is why it is imperative that you do not begin any other browsing sessions during this process.
  7. Your purchase should show up w/in the hour. If it does not show up w/in 48 hours, contact Bing.
If you have any questions ask them here. Or if this post needs to be updated, let me know.

*MODS: If this needs to be moved elsewhere, please do so. kthxbye.

This is where this may come in handy.

Eastbay is running a 20% discounted gift card promo.

Do not use your CASHBACK account just yet.

Purchase an email gift card for whatever amount ($10-$500) in any denomination to avoid delays and shipping costs.

When checking out, use coupon code IPEB9YGC for 20% off. *Expires June 12, 2009.

Once you receive your gift card, log into your Bing and CASHBACK accounts.

You will notice that Eastbay is offering 20% cashback.

Go through the portal.

When checking out, DO NOT use any coupon codes as I mentioned before. You may get away with free shipping but that is solely up to you.

Breakdown of one $160.00 Eastbay purchase using the most frugal approach.

$160.00 (Item)
+ $ 6.99 (Shipping)
+ $ 0.00 (Tax may be applicable for some)
__________
$166.99 (Subtotal)
($ 33.40) (20% discount promo)
__________
$133.59 (Total amount to be paid by you)

This will give you a $166.99 gift card toward any purchase @ Eastbay.

Once you receive your gift card, log into your Bing and CASHBACK accounts.

Navigate through the portal to Eastbay's storefront.

Make your $160.00 + shipping purchase using the gift card and no coupon code (use a code @ your own discretion).

Since Eastbay is offering 20%, your purchase will receive 20% CASHBACK reward on the price of the item ($32), less shipping/taxes.

After all is said and done, if executed properly, you will have saved ($33.40 + $32.00 = $65.40)

That is a $160.00 item less $65.40 making it $94.60!!

In essence, it is NOT a 40% discount overall, rather a 20% upfront then another 20% on the back end.

just a quick note, I believe the discount code box disappears when you go through the portal from bing to eastbay, so you can't use coupon codes at all, unless something has changed recently.
