anyone every been to a unemployment job search appointment? Ive been on it for a few months now, and I need to bring a list of work searches with me. Ididn't know I had to record all of them and I don't have the ones I applied to 3,4 months ago, just wondering to see how it is.

Sounds like you are getting audited. Expect to have to pay all of that money back. Best bet is to make up companies and put your friend's numbers for thecall back #s and let them know, because the auditor is going to randomly select a few of the #s and call to verify that you went on an interview with them.

But when you are on unemployment, you have to make at least 2 job "contacts" per week. You are supposed to keep track of them in case you are one ofthe unlucky ones who gets audited, and it seems like OP may be. Most people just get away with saying they did, and you can do so online or by phone every weekwhich then populates your check for that week, but again, some get called on it.

Hell, they made me pay my money back on a technicality. I was in a summer job position that had a "not to extend passed" date and as the dateapproached, just for paper trail purpose, the commander made me write a letter saying on such and such a date, I will surrender my position. I thought no bigdeal and did so. Well they researched into my claim, and found out I wrote a letter and basically means that I quit.

And this was like 5 yrs ago, I have to imagine they're even stricter now. And btw, saying I put in an app online doesn't count as a contact

My bad didnt mean to come off like that, maybe its a super diff in each State when I was on uep at the beginning of this year they gave me a log and I was justsupposed to submit 5 apps a week. On the log I just had to put the date, place applied for, and there was a spot for if you talked to anybody or if you did itonline. Some weeks id forget and just apply at a grip of places online and write em all down when I could. I was one that got audited on my 3rd month but noissues ever came up.

Well they could have loosened up since I was on though, plus yea different states. Still, I think OP could be in some trouble. Luckily they caught mine earlyand I only had to pay like 400$ because I was only getting about 100$ a week

Yeah I mean I have like 5-6 since October that I have searched and applied to online. Its just that I didnt know back in July, august and September that I hadto keep a record of them.

i didn't think they're actually examine the work searches category. i went to their site and it seems the only thing they really trip off of is"working while collecting unemployment and employer taxes". if you've provided false information on that then yeah, it mentioned about getting anaudit or phone interview. then again, i'm not quite sure.

I don't know...everytime my funds were exhausted, they just gave me the illest $6,000 re-up. I didn't complain about it, I just took ithaha.

i dunno bout that, congress just extended da already extended unemployment benefits by 20 weeks.

I was on unemployment and during my unemployment i had surgery on my right hand and lost use of it during the 3 month rehab process and they wouldnt evenextend my benefits past 12 months

in california you get 2 extensions. my unemployment runs out after my next check. with the extensions, ill be getting checks until the summer if i don'tfind a job.

the job market is dead though unless you want to work fast food or something minimal like that but to me

going to the mail box every other saturday and getting a check for $500 > working some minimal job while going to school and trying to find a new job.

i'm going to be in new york once school ends in december and im going to be out there until feb so once i come back i'm going to have my resume updatedand applying everywhere but until then, im just making the best of the situation.

Ive been on this since May, I know I am supposed to get some sort of benefits because I am also in school.
What the hell?

I hope I dont get summoned to show all sorts of Job "contacts"

Yeah I went today. They dont really glare over it. I would say at least apply once a week online and log it from here on out.
