South's burgeoning status as a national boys' basketball power has apparently made the school attractive to a shoe
and apparel provider.Under Armour has entered into a three-year sponsorship deal with South, providing shoes and apparel for the school.Twenty boys' basketball programs in the country are part of anationwide strategy to market the brand, the New York Daily Newsreported.Each South player received two pairs of shoes and a warmup suit."They're pampered," Holmes said.The coaches received polo shirts. Next season, Under Armour will provide South with new uniforms and shooting shirts.South was previously sponsored by Adidas, but the more-established company was providing only shoes to the school.
"It's a little more lucrative," Holmes said.Under Armour is new in the basketball market, and their shoes seem to not yet be available for purchase.
So far, there not have been any problems with the shoes, Holmes said."Nobody has had to have them replaced or anything," Holmes said. "Nobody has complained about them yet."Holmes said no money was involved in the agreement between South and Under Armour.
