spoiler bIntro track (Real Life) is pretty much a slow ballad/pop song. Personally I like it but it's far removed from the Trilogy/Kissland sound.
I'll edit this post as I continue listening
Track 2 (Losers ft. Labrinth) is also pretty poppy, a little faster paced. Audio seems a bit off though. Regardless I'm not really digging this song that much.
The instrumental is pretty cool but I could've definitely done without the feature on this track.
Track 3 is a bit more like his older sound. The instrumental is a nice sample and definitely not as poppy as the previous tracks. Some extremely raunchy lyrics on this song lol.
Skipped Often and The Hills
Track 6 (Acquainted) is my favorite so far. It's like a slightly more pop version of Girls Born In The 90s.
Dope track.
Skipped I Can't Feel My Face.
Track 8 (Shameless) is an accoustic track with a little change-up at the end.
Really enjoying this track.
Skipped Earned It and In The Night
Track 11 (As You Are) is another slow ballad. I could see this getting some major radio play.
Nice change-up around halfway into the track. Very ambient sounding.
Overall dope track.
Track 12 (Dark Times ft. Ed Sheeran) starts off with a verse from Ed Sheeran.
Very slow paced track. Ed and Weeknd work together very well on this track and both have an equal presence on the track. Lots a of a few lines for Ed, then a few lines from Weeknd etc.
Overall it's just too sow for me though, don't really care much for this track.
Track 13 (Prisoner ft. Lana Del Ray) is once again a pretty slow paced ballad. Lana fits in very well on this track.
Not bad but I don't particularly care much for this track either.
The final track "Angel" is a great closer to the album. Definitely one of the highlights of the album.
Now that I've listened to all the songs I'll safely say that this is a pop album for the most part.
There's really no comparing this to Trilogy or Kissland. I have no doubt in my mind that this album will do huge numbers though.
Personally I'd rate it about a 7 on my first listen. I was expecting most of the album to be pop so there's no real disappointment for me.
There's some tracks I really enjoy and others I don't care much for but nothing I'd call bad. The only track I'd skip is Earned It.
I think this album has the potential to truly cement The Weeknd as one of the biggest mainstream artists.
@ablinkin gonna blow a gasket
Can't wait for my man to come through with that eloquently written review
