New Netflix Restriction: One Stream Per Customer
Netflix continued its recent tightening and price-raising by making it so there can only be one streaming video feed per account.

For families that share accounts and want to be able to watch more than one instant stream at the same time, they'll have to sign up for an additional Unlimited Streaming account at $7.99 a month or increase the number of DVDs in their package. To get two streams, you need to pay $19.98/month for two DVD's at a time, or $23.98 for three streams and three DVDs, or four of both for $29.98.

It's always been an unenforced Netflix policy that you should only watch the number of concurrent streams as the number of DVDs in your package. But in the past they didn't do anything to prevent it besides a sporadic pop-up warning. Now an error message will appear if you try to watch more than your designated number of streams and you won't be able to watch more than you're allowed.

With the price increases, Starz removing its programming, and now this move, Netflix's cherry-red teflon shell could be losing some its luster.
Did Netflix just start limiting users to one movie stream at a time? No
By Richard Lawler  posted Sep 7th 2011 11:37AM

Over the last couple of days, some Netflix users have reported getting error messages whenever they tried to view Watch Instantly video streams on two different devices at the same time. While some reports have suggested that along with instituting a price hike September 1st it also decided to start cracking down on multiple streams, it turns out there's a simpler explanation. According to spokesman Steve Swasey, the policy is still the same and no Netflix member is limited to less than two streams at once. The messages people are seeing indicating otherwise? An "error" the company is correcting. Glitches suck, and are becoming a bit too routine on the service for our liking -- Hacking Netflix reports another blip caused S1 of Star Trek: TNG to disappear temporarily over the weekend -- but the rumors of a change in policy just aren't true, so keep that subscription canceling finger holstered for now.

I really hope that netflix limiting its streaming is just a "glitch" cause there have been many times where I am watching a movie in the living room and my son is watching barney or spiderman in his room. That would really kill it for me to the point I would probably cancel. I already gave in by cancelling the dvd service.
