The thing is, if you're young (rookie contract) and decent, the likelihood of signing for 200+ million that first extension is through the roof.

Patrick Williams missed a significant amount of time 3 of his first 4 years. When he did play, he was mostly underwhelming...at best, wildly inconsistent. And even he got 90 million.
