Can someone explain to me where the Jimmy Butler issue came from? I swear it was all peaches and creme not too long ago. He gets to be featured/tolerated as much as any team would allow him to do so.

Quick summary:

• Riley basically told him to tone down the extra stuff and focus on letting his game do the talking on the floor after last years playoff exit when Jimmy made a few proclamations.
• At the end of the season presser he also basically called out the whole team on the importance of availability and how it goes hand in hand with building a winner. Lot of folks took it as him throwing down the gauntlet on Jimmy but it 100% applied for numerous players on the roster too.
• Message was loud and clear for just about everyone in the team, including Herro who had missed a ton of games over the years but hasn't missed 1 yet this season.
• The season started out slowly but we didn't hear the rumors coming until November hit and Jimmy started missing games again. Had agent + insider shenanigans since and an official statement of denial later and that's where we're at.

Obviously when you're winning it's much easier to sweep certain issues under the rug but it's much harder to ignore when things are up and down so it's starting to look pretty clear that the relationship has run it's course at this point.

Might have to accept whatever comes this way if he's gonna be playing checked out like this . Not gonna get near equal value but might be worth getting rid of the circus that comes with a malcontent star.

It's a shame that's where we've gotten to but it's also been a slow roll this direction given the mix of strong and eclectic personalities involved. He's never stuck around at one place longer than he has with the Heat too at this point so probably a natural outcome of things with him in the end

Just like Zach Lavine, Jimmy is gonna be in for a huge surprise. With this new CBA I don't see the market for him. I could see the Suns, but idk why the Heat would want to take on Beals contract and he has a no trade clause.
