The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Begins | Embiid Debut | Klay Return

^^^ Hard for me to think of any “experts” less expert about the NBA than Nick Wright, Cowherd, Buecher and Broussard
The people who we routinely make fun of in here are now experts . He knows he doesn’t even believe what he’s saying.

Sorry, y’all were underdogs because NikeTalk, Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright picked against you . The people who get paid to set the lines had you as the favorites. People don’t like the Celtics. Who’s shocked that people picked against them? Some of it was definitely hoping that they’d lose. They had the best roster in the league. It’s not the underdog story you’re trying to make it.
Ain’t no way the team that was 14 games better than the #2 seed in their conference, 7 games better than the #1 seed in the west, and the only 60+ game winners were ever the underdog at any point

Same energy for Tim Legler and Zach Lowe too?

The 89% of wagers on a betting site taking the Mavs? Seems like a lot. One might almost call that “most”. Guess folks just felt like being charitable.

This is probably made up too…

Yes, gambling companies notoriously clean up on the average sports fan betting one way and the sharp money coming in is on the winner . Seriously, what are you trying to prove? You haven’t made one good point on this. Didn’t Lowe pick the Celtics at the beginning of the season too? I would just enjoy my team winning, not trying to make them the little engine that could. This is weird to me

All I said was most folks thought Dallas would win. And supported with some background info. Then you butted in about how I was wrong with nothing other than Celtics were the betting favorites, even though you do seem to understand how that could be the case while also not having most people backing them. You just don’t like the narrative. We get it.

If anybody is being weird here it’s you sir

Enjoying my team winning quite well 8)

This doesn’t mean the mavericks were favorites. It means you could’ve won more money betting on the mavericks because they were +185 before the series started. Boston was -225. Boston was favored.

The narrative is false. You’re lying. That’s the problem here.

Right, not saying that was the be all end all, which is why I also commented on folks who were just straight up picking them with no money on the line. There just wasn’t some sweeping idea that Boston was going to win.

Smart folks that understood what they saw all year did. Others decided to be prisoners of the moment.

Dallas was playing well heading into the finals but the more prevalent thought was “I wouldn’t be too surprised if Dallas won, but I think Boston takes it.” And they did, handily. They were not underdogs.

I certainly remember the energy. It was delicious.

None of this actually matters because these people are paid to give their opinions and can just talk about whatever will generate more views. We make fun of them.

Should focus more on the general public…

I perceived the shift as people thinking the Mavs road was tougher, they were playing their best hoop of the season, had a ton of momentum and theoretically had the best player in the series, while the Celtics were not completely the same without KP. Celtics may have been favored, but the gap closed quite a bit.

Ngl This is HIM HIM 's fault

The General Public
13 thousand people
56%/44% split
Definitely makes the case for more people thinking the Celtics would win.

Just interested to understand what you think matters in this scenario, because so far the majority of bets and money doesn’t matter to you, people that talk on tv about the sport don’t matter to you, people that write about the sport for a living don’t matter to you, people on here don’t matter to you, people on a heavily traveled public forum dedicated to basketball don’t matter to you.

I’m honestly interested.
