THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 1 - 1 Next game 9/22 vs. Ravens

The problem isn’t paying Dak, Micah and CeeDee.

It’s letting the negotiation go on for an extra 1-2 years when the market shifts even further in the player’s direction.

The second problem is being pissy about negotiating with your franchise guys, after saying your policy is drafting and paying your own, and just ignoring free agency.

They aren’t winning not because of Dak and Romo or CeeDee and Amari and Dez. Or Micah and DLaw and Ware. They’re not winning because every other contender seems to figure out how to pay guys while also manipulating the cap enough to sign Free Agents and trade for guys at good value, and the Cowboys just don’t.

I don’t like the cowboys business negotiation practices. If you have a player that signed a 4-year contract and last year of contract threatens to hold out, call their bluff. Sooner or later you have to stand your ground, I think a WR would have been a perfect opportunity

I agree with all of this! I just want to add other contenders figure out which players to pay and which players you should trade let walk. The cowboys use popularity to decide who to keep/Pay lol.

i mean from the offensive skill positions.

Zeke and Gallup were the only 2 that they shouldn’t have paid that they did pay.

In terms of timing and the way their contracts were tailored for Anger, Steele, and Zach Martins are all bad examples of not having a plan. All should be paid but it’s no reason to take a cap hit for a punter

Redemption drive. Dime by Dak, great catch by CeeDee. And good on Dak to stay in for the TD

Also our WRs as a whole are better RBs than our RBs

Dallas always drafts well. And if Carson is as good as Balldinger thinks he will be huge W.

But also underscores how frustrating their approach is with the team. If you can draft well, you still need to pick your spots and make the FA splash where you need to.

Will never question their draft strategy/evaluation process as long as Will McClay is in the building. They're unabashedly wonderful.

But yeah - it makes all the other issues that much more glaring.

Guyton, Bebee, Kneeland, Carson all look like major long-term contributors one week in.

I will go to the grave believing that the difference between 0 Conference Championship Appearances, No Super Bowl Appearances, and no Super Bowl Wins since 2005 is largely rooted in their Free Agency approach.

Sure there's other issues. I won't disagree. But the largest to me is not properly utilizing free agency through cap manipulation.

Not even sure if we have any of the same defensive players out there from Week 1. Just horrendous.

Dak having a decent half, then gets all undone because Brooks falls on his break with a pass that would have been completed if he's standing or worst case incomplete because the DB would have no position to get the pick.

Ah, we’re so back.

Last week was like DFW’s annual False Fall.

Great news, folks. We’re still us.
