The Combat Jack Show Thread

That beef was wild. 50 had all his paperwork exposing how fake and broke he was. Took care of his baby mom and kid. Had his best friend knocked out. This was a little after Wayne gotta pass for kissing a man. Once those two incidents gotta pass, knew Hip Hop was different

Every beef is real for 50. Not saying too much. He was also doing that corny pimpin Curly **** then as well

This weeks discussion will be Game and Ross.

Because you like someones album or discography better than someone else doesn't mean they're a better rapper

Mal says some dumb stuff. Ross' popularity is really overrated. He was never a commercial artist and has never had a platinum album. He has great relationships.

Ross's comments about 50 were definitely a shot, not sure how Mal can even deny it.

Saying Ross has worked with everyone, as if Game hasn't worked with everyone from Nas, to Wayne to Kanye.

and when they said people were saying Wayne was better than Jay, who? A bunch of 18 year olds who never listened to Jay in the first place.

Even when Wayne was at his so called lyrical peak Jay put out American Gangster which is better than C2 and 3. I was 18 and 19 when "peak Wayne" was out and I never looked at him as some goat/untouchable rapper. Kanye and TIP was putting out better music than him.

50 played a part in hip hop being different now. I remember around 09 Jay did a interview and he brought how rappers are having "YouTube beef" and it's corny. That's the normal way to beef now.

And all 50 had to do was drop good music with the dirt he had but he was finished at that point. Ross locked in and dropped a great album with Deeper Than Rap and used that beef to his advantage. Stay consistent and kept building.

Production, lyrically, story telling wise American Gangster is a great album. Jay telling those stories over 70's R&B is flawless. The damn mixing is top notch.

AG overrated, I skip like 5-6 songs. Some of those beats super garbage. It's overrated cause the movie was so good and he was back to rapping for real after putting out so many duds before.

Nah. It's over a decade later and it's still great.

Just glancing at the track list, I can't call AG "Overrated".

Only songs that don't get regular spins from me are, Hello Brooklyn, Blue Magic, and I Know.

****** just saying stuff now. You wanted Pharrell wailing on the hook on that instrumental? Nah.

AG was cool. It was good for what it was at the time: a concept album that gave Jay the opportunity to go back into that character without it coming off corny.

Everybody wanna have the hottest take, though.

Game has some underrated diss songs

People talk about Ross holding his own against 50 like Game didn't take on all of them and had G Unot a thing

Game is better than so many _'s, his catalog is better and his longevity is solid. He hit a second prime with Jesus Piece and ain't missed since.

The amazing thing is that he's so good of a rapper that he still gets respect. He's Bow Wow status with talent.

I finally listened to the Bimmy interview on Queenz Flip, it's a good episode. Bimmy is a good interview. Some stuff definitely got scrubbed.

The P2(Preme's son) stuff was interesting. I listened to some of the P2 episode on Queenz Flip and lost interest when he mentioned he didn't even learn who his father was until he was in high school and he was a private school kid. I had thought Preme had some part in actually raising him. I realized he was doing the 50 stuff for clout and was of this new generation of corniness.
