School Project: Shoes

Hey, I'm a senior in high school and all the senior english classes at my school have students do a senior project where we are able to research anythingwe want. My dream job would be a shoe designer so I wanted to focus on kicks for my project. I'm torn on what to do though, shoe design (which ispractically impossible to find a book on) or customizing shoes (I got the book custom kicks by Maki). (by the way I've never customized a pair ofshoes or actually fully designed a concept I've done, I just have a bunch of sketches I made, and I would like to learn the whole process of designing andhow to do it). I do have to have a final product to present, so I figure I could have a digital rendering of my final shoe design or a pair of customizedshoes.

I guess what I'm trying to ask for is any comments on:
-contacting a professional shoe designer or who I could possibly interview
-book suggestions
-thoughts on what project I should do
-ideas for checkpoints in my project that I could do ( for example design competions, shoe conventions, etc.)
-any thoughts/ comments on anything!

jks fam!

if your going to do customizing shoes,
i think YOU should try to customize a pair first, so you know how it feels like,
enjoyment/stressful, long/short, so when you talk about it, you put it into more detail, since you've attempted it....

you could possibly find someone on NT to interview, some of them give out info on how to contact them....

not sure about concrete sources though,

so you wanna interview a shoe designer, or a shoe customizer? they are 2 different things for the most part.

not sure if we can talk about it here but Sole Collector's latest magazine has some interviews with some designers that you might wanna check out. It mighteven have some of their email addresses...check that out. I think its available on eastbay or at your local footlocker
