School me on Miami...hotels especially

Planning a trip there for sometime in the month of December. I have never been there before so i am going based off pictures and hotel reviews on sites...whichcan be deceiving i'm sure. Location is probably the most important thing, I want to be as close I can be to as many bars, clubs as i can be. I however wantto stay at a nice hotel with nice retaurants etc. Any suggestions?
