I'm just curious, we have been hearing a lot of rumors about sports being rigged for ages. But i'm curious to see if anybody in here actually believe in this? especially people who bet in sports.

Well for those who believe it's rigged , I sure hope you're not watching it. I always hear people talk about it yet still continue to watch it as if its legit.

waits for some insider to spill the beans.

I always thought games were tipped toward a team. Like ref gets best player in early foul trouble (NBA). Holding call in NFL during a critical drive. Like its possible to overcome the "rigging" but a lot harder then if it was straight up.

I know soccer had a huge scandal in Italy over ref's being paid off. But i can assume they call penalties if its close for the team that paid them or just more fouls for the team that paid them? Again it would help a lot but not guarantee a win for a particular side.

I think people try to rig games.

I mean, anything involving money is largely corrupt.

Difference in sports is the amount of losers there is in every game.

I don't think it's as deep as team A will beat team B per rigging.

More like we'll give team A an extra push.

Regardless I still think the major sports are more pure and competitive then corrupt.

what about UFC and boxing? do you guys see it being rigged where one boxer lose on purposed. For example, theres people that were saying how the UFC was building and setting up conor mcgregor and rhonda as the face of ufc and than those two just has the biggest upset in sports history.

There's definitely rigging in boxing and even MMA. Just look no further than that Bellator event a few weeks back with Kimbo Slice for a recent example :lol.

I don't agree with your point about the UFC though, why would Dana White want his 2 biggest golden geese to lose their air of invincibility? You think for possible rematches? They had way more to gain by having both of them still undefeated than the other way imo.

Makes zero sense to have you two undefeated media darlings lose this early on. **** why would you want Connor losing out of his weight class the way he did.

When you have your top guy lose its to another to take his place. Until then you cherry pick fights and protect until the right contender / money maker comes along.

At the end of the day its money and betting, i remember people in Thailand would bet on their fighters to lose cause the odds of winning is slim and the trainers would just tell him to keep his hands up. I'm sure Vegas make a lot of calls as well.

Hahahahahahah @ sports history

it's not totally rigged where the outcome is determined, but matches are sometimes influenced where one side may get the calls
it's entertainment and there is a lot of big money involved, so anything is possible when determining the outcome

even if i knew it was totally fake, i still watch for entertainment purposes. no different than a movie or concert. that's why i could care less about drug testing. i want to see the fastest, strongest, elite athletes entertain

my opinion, i still think point shaving is still rampant in college sports. i heard stories from ncaa ballers about guys approaching them and asking them to not "blow out" a team too bad or try to keep it close for the first half.

NBA cheats. Ask Tim Donaghy. It's the only star-driven league. Maybe basketball in general. Boston College players were caught point shaving in 70s
