Questions:Kobe V USA custom

I'm planning to get a second pair of Kobe V USA's and what I want to try do is change the red material on the heel from red to blue to match the heel cup. I was wondering what would be better to use, RIT dye or a fabric paint of some sort? Which one would be better in getting as close as I can to the blue?, which would be more durable in the long run?,and look more natural and not fake looking? 


Here's a pic of the material I want to modify, is the material mesh or something else? Sorry, noob here and this is my first custom that I want to try.
